"Hans" is just a diminutive of "Johann", therefore, it would seem likely that his full name was Johann Jacob. (Johannes as a first name was apparently only used in Germany when the person did not have a middle name. With a middle name, it should be Johann.) If anyone HAS ever seen documentation showing "Johan Jacob" or "Johannes Jacob", PLEASE let us know what it is. (I've also often seen "Jacob A." and "Hans Jacob A." as his name. Don't know where in the world the "A." came from, but I believe it be seriously in error.) George
