Several Tipton still in Blount Co, and Sevier Co., TN ----- Original Message ----- From: <Sperong@aol.com> To: <BROYLES-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, March 02, 2002 2:12 AM Subject: [BROYLES] Broyles Naming patterns Yes Darius, son of Joseph Addison and Barbara Ann Thompson was my great great grandfather. I am still looking for information on the Comptons, Darius's wife's line that goes up to a William Compton born in 1788. William married a woman named Susan then later a woman named Louisana. After marriage to Susan, several children in the Broyles family were named Tipton including my great great grandfather William Tipton Broyles. It is hard to tell whether the Tipton name came from a famous Tipton, or a friend named Tipton, or perhaps Susan was a Tipton. I can't find a marriage record (year approximatly 1810-15) which according to some records occurred in Servier Co where the courthouse burned. William Compton moved to Rhea County in the early 1820s. Would anyone have any good ideas on how to find this connection? I haven't been able to connect this William Compton or locate the name of his wife.
