Sarah is surely Sarah Jones, wife of Jeremiah Broyles. They moved from Greene Co. to Lincoln Co. around 1809, and he is found there in the 1820 census. But there are no further records of the family in Lincoln Co., so the question has always been, "what happened to Jeremiah and his family?" I had come to the conclusion that Jeremiah died c. 1825 and that his widow and children moved to Davidson Co. where son John is found in 1830. Not immediately handy to me are some Davidson Co. records regarding a Sarah Broyles, plus other records in Lincoln Co. that establish John as a son of Jeremiah, and seem to refer to a court case of some kind. The newspaper article now establishes the fact that Sarah murdered her husband. Undoubtedly she and the children had to leave the county. My info on Jeremiah from a few years ago can be found at: http://www.ultranet.com/~deeds/broyles/html/d0002/g0000079.htm#I63 "C. Y.
