Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/IOG.2ACIB/252 Message Board Post: I am looking for information on my great grandmother-Melinda or Malinda Elizabeth Broyles. She married my ggrandfather David V. Cullop sometime in 1895 in (I believe) Smythe Co. VA. I have looked everywhere for info on her, to no avail. HELP!!! If anyone has any info on her parents, where she was born, etc., please email me. Thanks!!! < I have found your Broyles family in the Scott Co, VA 1880 Census. They are as follows, Pg. 36, De Kalb District, Scott Co, VA, 25 Jun 1880. Broils, Louis S. W M 42 Farm Laborer VA VA VA Sarah C. W F 32 WIFE VA NC VA William A. W M 20 SON Farm Laborer VA VA VA Mary E. W F 17 DAU VA VA VA John O. W M 13 SON Farm Laborer VA VA VA George H. W M 11 SON Farm Laborer VA VA VA Thomas C. W M 10 SON Farm Laborer VA VA VA Margarette W F 8 SON VA VA VA Joseph C. W M 6 SON VA VA VA Henry J. W M 5 SON VA VA VA Malinda E. W F 2 DAU VA VA VA Robert F. W M 2/12 SON VA VA VA This report would certainly indicate that Sarah C. was probably a second wife and not the mother of the older children and that there may have been more after 1880 as there is no 1890 census. I do not have Louis S. Broyles in my database. Maybe someone else does. He is not in the Steve Broyles database and maybe Ken Broyles could check his Keith book. The "J" middle initial for Henry may be "L" or "F". It is not very legible. Please let me know if you have a connection for Louis S. Broils/Broyles. Jim Albin jealbin@compuserve.com
