Dear list, I am researching the same family that has been discussed lately but I don't know if my info is correct. Please make any corrections needed. I would like any info on any descendants or ancestors that any one would like to share with me. My husband is the 8 Great Grandson of Johannes Broyle and Ursula. His line is as follows: Johannes Broyle>Hans Jacob A. Broyle>John Broyles>Lucy Broyles Broyles>Thomas Broyles>Mary Frances Broyles Stanford> Thomas Aaron Stanford>Jessie Homer Stanford>Jessie Junior Stanford>Carolyn Kay Stanford Clawson>Jessie James Clawson The info I have: Johannes (John) Broyle (Broyles, Breuel) b. 1 May 1679 Bavaria, Germany d. 1734 married in Alsace, Germany to Ursula. (I have received different info on Ursula's last name. I am interested in any info about Ursula.) Their son: Hans Jacob A. Broyle (Broyles) b. 26 Mar 1705 married Maria Catherine Fleischman b. 26 Jan 1703. My understanding is that Maria is Jacob's half aunt. Is this correct? Thank you, Tammy
I found this on http://www.ancestry.com/. I looked under Jacob Ruop. http://awt.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?surname=ruop&given=jacob&start=51 While we are taking about Jacob Ruop. Was he ever married to Anne Schone. There is a lot of information but I thought it was incorrect. Thanks, Judy >This is the first time,e that I have seen it. I knew Ursula was a Ruop. Wow! The sources are apparently the parish registers of Fichtenburg (Fichtenberg), Germany. There's a town with that name today, but it is not close to the area of Oetisheim and Dusslingen, nor is it near the area where the Germanna immigrants came from. Nonetheless, Ursula's christening date is in line with what we expect, and her father's name is correct. This should be followed up on. I have Simeon Broyles and wife Mary Fox with 9 children. The 2nd being Sarah (Sally) Broyles, MD. William Blackburn ca 1829-25. Wm Blackburn appears in the 1830 census of Washington Co., TN with two males and one female under 5. His age is given as between 30 and 40 and his wife's age as between 20 and 30. I have nothing further on this couple. This all came out of Dr. A. L. Keith's manuscript. It has been used before to join the DAR and also First Families of Tennessee. Hello; I greatly appreciate the information you shared about the Bird family. It appears I do need to find a copy of the "History of Wahington Co., TN" as many of my ancestors lived in this area during the same time period. Thanks again, Gayla B Carter
Message text written by INTERNET:BROYLES-L@rootsweb.com >Greetings: I am looking for the parents & siblings of David BIRD who I believe was born in the 1780's in Virginia, & married to Mary BROYLES. I am descended through their daughter Catherine & her 1st husband Isaac WILHOIT (& other spellings). Any help or thoughts for David Bird would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Sincerely, Gayla < The following is from the "History of Washington Co, TN" a must have book for anyone with Germanna roots in East Tennessee. The article was submitted by family members. "ETHAN EPHRAIM BIRD Ethan Ephraim Bird and Elanor Mauk Bird continued the pioneering spirit which had brought their ancestors from Europe to East Tennessee. Seven years after their marriage, 5 September, 1829, they moved, with their sons, Samuel and James, to Madison Co, IN, then to Mercer Co, IL for about twenty years, settling about 1856 in Oakland, IA. Ephraim died 17 July 1892, buried Belknap Center Cemetery, Oakland. Eleanor died 21 January 1898, buried beside her husband. Eleanor (or Ellender) was the oldest of the eleven children of Samuel Mauk (1795-1876) and Mary ("Polly") Broyles (1795-1865), born 1812, Mauktown, Washington Co, TN. Samuel built the first cold blast furnace on the Nolichucky River. He was the son of John and Elizabeth Heiser Mauk who came to Tennessee abut 1799. Polly was the daughter of Ellender Broyles (daughter of Matthias and Eva Klug Broyles) and husband, James Broyles (son of Jacob Broyles and Elizabeth Yowell-- the first non-German spouse)" <NOTE: We know that is not true as the Yowell family was originally Uhl and German.> "Matthias and Jacob were sons of Jacob and Mary Catherine Fleishman Broyles. Ephraim Bird was one of twelve children of David and Mary Broyles Bird, married 14 February 1804 in Greene Co, TN. Mary was the daughter of Matthias and Eva Klug Broyles. The Broyleses, Klugs, and Fleishmans were settlers of the Germanna Colony of Virginia. Ephraim and Eleanor had three daughters , and six sons, all but one of whom survived them. Samuel Bird (1832-1904) married Martha Ann Etchison, children: Mary Jacob, Martha, Lizzie, Ida, Ira and Elmer Bird. James Matthias Bird (1834-1912) married Mary Emeline Etchison, children: Ellen Jane (Samuel Austin Kinzer), Mary Elizabeth Rust (Stephen Rust), Annabel (Edward Everett Gage), Tempie Caroline (Alfred Bates), Nellie Frances (Hugh Conway Rust), Lydia Olive (Luther Warren Pope), Emma Alice (Frank Danford, John Summit, Nicholas Sorensen, John Jackson), Fred (Laura Danford, Elizabeth Leamons), Myrtle (Fred Kimberly), and Ethan Emory Bird (Rose Ann Cissna). Mary Bird married John Calvin, had a son John Calvin. John Bird (1839-1909) married Sally Bush, four children: Henry, Eddie, Fannie Mariam, and Frank Bird --- the only one to reach adulthood. Philip Bird (1841-1911) married Susan Alice Huff, six children: Rosella (Brown), Erma (Burgett), Kitty (Heft), Lela (Sadler), Orval Emory Bird and one other daughter. She came here with her husband when this country was yet an unbroken wilderness, and has lived to see it dotted all over with pleasant groves, fertile farms and happpy homes......" The article was submitted by Marian Rust and Gertrude Stuhr. Mrs. Rust is elderly and not in good health. She gave me permission to reprint the above, but said she was no longer able to do any research. In my data, I have David Bird b. 1786 d. Mar 20, 1861 Greene Co, TN (1) m. Dec 15, 1802 Elizabeth Broyles b. ca 1780 d. ca 1803 daughter of Jacob Broyles and Elizabeth Yowell (2) m. Feb 14, 1804 Mary Ann (Polly) Broyles b. ca 1786 d. Dec 15, 1862 daughter of Matthias Broyles and Eva Klug All 14 children were from the second marriage to Mary Ann: Goldie Rhoda, John, Matthias (Margret Wilhoit), Phillip, Ephraim b. Feb 20, 1809 .(Eleanor Broyles), Eva (John Parman), Cynthia Ellender, Simeon, Katherine, Mary, Malinda, Dora Alice, Jacob F., Julius Broyles. In the book there is a picture of James M. and Mary Emeline Bird's family taken when the children were grown. I do hope this helps. This should be a good start for doing more research and the above should be verified. Jim Albin
This is off the subject slightly but not by much I hope. Is there any RELIABLE Family Crest or Heraldry resources on the Computer. A cousin of mine asked me and all I know is that some of them are not good. (I know about the Broyles Crest. This is for the Hawman line) Thanks for the help.
