Hi folks! Nadine Braden Broyles, author of "Broyles and Related Families" has graciously given her permission for me to post my transcription of her book on my web site. The Broyles family descends from Johannes Broyles and his wife Ursula who emigrated with their children from Germany to Germana, Spotsylvania County, Virginia in 1717. The related families include the Spillers who traveled to Williamson County, Illinois with the Duncan wagon train in 1816, and the descendents of Plesant Sidney 'P.S.' Roberts who married Orpha Spiller 23 Oct 1894 in Fulton County, Arkansas. Be VERY patient downloading this file from my web site (see the URL below). It's over a megabyte in length. -- Robert W. I can't find any information on their son Russell A. Broyles. He was born April 14, 1925 in Campbell Co. Tn. Do you have any information?
John H. Broyles (son of Ira David Broyles) died in Barton Co., MO before 24, Sept. 1875 on which date Rhoda J. Broyles was appointed Adm. of his estate. Several of his Descendants agree in giving his wife's name as Sarah Wells, who is said to have died at the age of 33 years. It would seem that she was the mother of all his children and probably Rhoda J. Broyles was a 2nd wife, whom he md. not long after her death. He was probably not far from 40 yrs old when he died. His children were taken into the home of their uncle Christopher Columbus Broyles. 6 children Jefferson Hughs Broyles John Thomas Broyles Susan Alice Broyles Victoria Elizabeth Broyles Wade Broyles William Broyles. If need anymore information let me know. I have added information to the web site for the East Tennessee Germanna Descendants Reunion to show available lodging in Greeneville and Johnson City. I don't guarantee that I have included all motels and hotels, but the ones I do show are the ones that MapQuest says are there. Please pass this on to any applicable Mailing Lists, Newsletters, Forums, etc. SgtGeorge George W. Durman

May I suggest that everyone on these Lists subscribe to the VIRUS-DISCUSSION Mailing List and keep up to date on all the latest news concerning computer infections, e.g., Viruses, Worms, Trojans, etc.? It doesn't matter if your system has ever been infected or not -- these days, with new infections coming out almost every day, every computer user MUST remain vigilant and ensure that he/she doesn't become infected, thereby passing on these dastardly things to others. It won't cost you any money to join the VIRUS-DISCUSSION List, but it might save you some money if your system is trashed and you have to pay a computer expert to get it right again. Plus, in just about all cases when one's computer has to be "fixed" by a repairman, you lose valuable files. It's your choice. Keep abreast of what is happening in the virus world and learn how to REALLY protect your computer, or stand the chance of disaster. And, for any of you who do NOT use an Anti-Virus (AV) program, or, if you DO have one, but don't keep it updated at least twice weekly with the latest virus definition files, you risk losing your system and all your valuable data files; more importantly, you risk getting an infection and then spreading it to thousands and thousands of other users. To subscribe, send to: VIRUS-DISCUSSION-L@rootsweb.com Subject: SUBSCRIBE Regards, SgtGeorge George W. Durman
i am descended from the Briles and the Broyles which are both from the same family Ursula ruop and johannes breyhel (broyles) i have seen the "Broyles coat of arms on the web" however being the Broyles was what our family came up with after comming to the new world (america) prior to landing here we were Breyhel, Bruel, and Breiel according to known documents, so my guess is that the "Broyles coat of arms" is either a farce or pertains to another family since we became Broyles (or Briles) only since landing in Va. by the way, coats of arms can only be used by the son's of the man who received the orig. women can not use them or pass them down to her son's, however the known family members of Joan of arc (her nephew's and Nieces) could (was she cool or not)?!?! anyway...here is the website with the alledged coat of arms... http:..homepages.rootsweb.com/~george/broycoatblackwhite.html
Hello to all the Kin Folk, I have noticed that many of us seem to be looking for links to our history, which all seems to be following the same route across the US. Many of us are related and not even knowing it, some one out there among us has the key's to the whole puzzle. I don't know if we are blind or just not looking at the whole picture....but I would like to make a simple request of others to do the same thing (if you are new to this..like we are (within the last 5 years or so)) to look at the other family members and trace them also. Not just trace our direct line. If your line has siblings, what happened to them as well? The trail seems to be one in which all family members followed and even your cousins parents and grandparents moved together. Kay is still trying to put the re-print together, which outlines many of our families, but some of us are holding out the last piece, or holding the old Bibles which show the family as a hole. Where are these Bibles? Where are our living grandparents that have the info with them? If we have ill feelings toward that part of our families, and vowed never to speak to them again.... I ask that we let the past go and move forward! Many of us are unable to visit the location of the most common areas of information, and also would like to thank those who have traveled to find parts of the missing links for the rest of us. If at all possible is their anyone on that lives in the North Carolina South Carolina area that is willing to search for a clue or two? We are still looking for the parents and siblings of Ransom Fuller b. 1797 NC! Who were your/are Cousins and their Cousins? Before the 18th century, and even up to circa 1950's, family members were named after other family members in a specific order to the importance of the kin to the parents! Just food for Thought! Still looking..... Jimmie R Daves Waitsburg, WA

Hello Gene. The BAIRD family did intermarry with Germanna families in East TN, but BAIRD is not itself a German family. I'm using only the actual Germanna names, since, if I didn't, I would have a list of EVERY surname of everyone who ever lived in East TN. Folks, don't forget the East Tennessee Germanna Descendants Reunion 8 & 9 September, to be held at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in the Philadelphia Community, near Limestone, TN. There are no registration fees & no registration requirements, but we would like an RSVP from anyone planning to attend. To read the full details, go to the Reunion page on our Germanna Families web site: http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~george/easttennesseereunion.html This page also contains maps and driving directions from the two nearby cities of Johnson City and Greeneville. So far, I have received RSVPs from 14 cousins, for a total of 31 people. PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO ANY OTHER "GERMANNA" MAILING LIST, NEWSGROUP, GENEALOGY SOCIETY, FORUM, ETC. Regards, George W. Durman
Gentlemen: We have not corresponded recently, but I always enjoy reading the various Germanna-related comments. With respect to "The List", Please include my documented ancestors, Absolom Looney, Sr (b. abt 1729) and his son, Michael Looney, Sr (b. abt 1750/51 - 1 Jan 1839 in TN). I have received SAR approval on my lineage on both of these ancestors and will be glad to share with any other descendants who may desire membership or Supplemental Apps. Of course, Michael was m. to Temperance Cross (abt 1750 - bef 1840) and their dau Margaret Looney (abt 1776 - abt 1804) was m. to Dangerfield Rice. I know you both have all of this data (and much more), but this may be of interest to others. Best wishes from Atlanta, Lowrey McNeel <<< HLMCN@aol.com >>>>>
If you have an index for Dr. Keith books, you would see that there are 100's of names the connect to the Broyles, and other spellings.
