Lately I've had some problems with users sending posts that exceed the maximum size allowed. The size that is now set is 15,000 bytes (15 Kb). Some users ARE limiting their posts of genealogy data to 15,000 bytes, but forget that headers and footers are added to all emails, and the resulting size is over the 15,000 byte limit. So, please, in the future, keep your posts to about 12,000 bytes so that the final size of the email is still under the 15,000 bytes limit. Thanks, SgtGeorge George W. Durman

Yes, his appearance amongst the Broyles suggests a connection. Families did tend to move together. What were the names of Peter Click's children? Atsissie1@aol.com on 04/19/2002 11:29:25 PM Please respond to BROYLES-L@rootsweb.com To: BROYLES-L@rootsweb.com cc: Subject: Re: [BROYLES] Mary Broyles, dtr Jacob Broyles & Mary Fleischman Thanks for that tidbit about "some pewter". No Lewis didn't have any family named Peter. That's kind why we've always wondered where the name came from. Yes it is highly speculative, but as we all know, families did travel together in those days and USUALLY lived around family. Lewis was born 1741 so it does make Mary a very good candidate age wise for Lewis' wife. Sure wish I could find just a smidgen someplace, but probably never will be able to prove it. I am speculating that Lewis Click was probably married twice & possible 2nd wife may have been Mary Broyles. Lewis Click had a son Peter Click and as close as can be determined he was born abt 1767, however, with the fact that the will was written 1761, his birth year could be off by a few years. Peter Click is buried at the Cherokee Baptist Church in Washington County, Tenn. The other thing is that we have NO other Peter's in our lines of the Click family. So my speculation is: Could Mary Broyles, if she did marry Lewis Click, have named a son Peter Click, after her brother Peter Broyles? Anyone have any thoughts about this? Carolyn Whitaker < IF Peter Click was named for Peter Broyles, brother of Mary Broyles; then Peter Broyles would have been named for Peter Fleischmann, Sr., brother of Maria Catharina Fleischman wife of Hans Jacob Broyles and mother of Mary and Peter Broyles. I can't say whether the will was transcribed or not. Nor do I have anything on Mary other than a suggested birthyear of 1748 which is compatible with a marriage to Lewis Click and birth of son Peter in 1767. She would have been around 18 at marriage. By the way, "SON PEWTOR" is an error for "some pewter". This is all highly speculative. It's unfortunate there's no further hard evidence at this time. The name Peter is rare in the Broyles family, so we might just as well ask how Peter Broyles got his name. Was Lewis's father named Peter by any chance? Note also that Jacob's son Adam was old enough to have a daughter who could fill the bill. Please respond to BROYLES-L@rootsweb.com To: BROYLES-L@rootsweb.com cc: Subject: [BROYLES] Mary Broyles, dtr Jacob Broyles & Mary Fleischman I was looking over some information that was done by Mr. Keith & the will of Jacob Broyles dated 3 Nov 1761. It lists a daughter Mary in Item 6 - I give and bequeath to my beloved daughter Mary Broil a cow and calf and a bed and a pot and pan and SON PEWTOR to her and her heirs forever. I have a couple of questions. 1) does anyone know if this will was written in German & later transcribed? 2) does anyone know anything further on Mary? As I have stated in prior requests, my 4th great grandfather, Lewis Henry Click was residing amongst descendants of these Broyles families in Broylesville and owned land just behind the old mercantile store less than 1/2 mile. The Broyles families out of this line have been constant neighbors in Washington & Greene counties down through the years. There is absolutely no reason for my Lewis Click to be living in this area. We do not know who his wife was as his will has been lost & no one has ever found any marriage records. All we basically have are two deeds in 1818, Washington County that lists the heirs, and no wife is listed. However, Lewis' son, Henry was born abt 1781 in Richmond Co. , Va according to his pension file. In 1830 Greene co. Tenn census two of Lewis' sons, Martin & Malachi are all living on pg 200. Their neighbors are John Broyles, Ephraim Broyles, John Broyles, Jacob Broyles, John Wilhoit is living right next to Martin Click, Sr. I know this doesn't PROVE anything, but these Broyles families are constantly around our families & feel since our family farm in Washington county sits among all these families we must be related. Black, Campbellsville, KY, Place of burial: Brookside Cemetery, Undertaker, W.L. Spurling, Campbellsville, KY. The transcriber added a note of their own with the following: Eliza "Liza" J. Dooley was the widow of William R. Dooley; they were married Adair Co, KY 1864, she under the WALLACE surname. Eliza appears on the 1860 Adair Co census (district 2, hh #118) age 10 in the household of Campbell and Martha J. Wallis (misspelling?) (all 3 born in TN), but her surname is given on the census as Briles, Briley, Broyles (hard to read). Martha J. Pitts married Campbell G. W. Wallace in 1852 in Blount Co, TN. Could this possibly be the right track for me to check out? Any help is appreciated. Thanks
