1. [BROYLES] BROYLES Ancestors of All WILHITE/WILHOIT Descendants
2. George W. Durman
3. Just thought I would throw this out again, since we've had so many new users join us in the past few months. As far as we have been able to determine, ALL descendants of the original WILHEIT/WILHITE/WILHOIT immigrants have a BROYLES umpteenth-great-grandmother back there somewhere. So, if you are a WILHITE/WILHOIT or BROYLES/BRILES descendant (or have any of the other variant spellings), you are related to all other WILHITE/WILHOIT and BROYLES/BRILES descendants. Here's how it goes: Johanne Michael WILHEIT, who was born and died in Germany, had, among other children, a son Adam. Adam was one of the Germanna immigrants. Adam married Catherine BROYLES, the daughter of the immigrant Johannes BREYHEL (John BROYLES), and the sister of Hans Jacob BROYLES. The same Johanne Michael WILHEIT, who was born and died in Germany, had another son, Tobias. Tobias was also one of the Germanna immigrants. Tobias had a son, Conrad Reuben WILHITE/WILHEIT (Sr.), who married Elizabeth BROYLES. Elizabeth was the daughter of Hans Jacob BROYLES, the brother of the Catherine who married Conrad Reuben's uncle Adam. --------------------------------- 1-Johanne Michael WILHEIT m.Anna Maria HENGSTELER 2-Adam WILHITE m.Catherine BROYLES (daughter of Johannes BREYHEL) 2-Tobias WILHITE m.Catherine WALKE 3-Conrad Reuben WILHITE m.Elizabeth BROYLES (granddaughter of Johannes BREYHEL) --------------------------------- To date, we have found no WILHITE/WILHOIT descendants who are NOT descendants of either Adam or Conrad Reuben WILHITE/WILHEIT/WILHOIT. Note to John BLANKENBAKER: Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't all of you BLANKENBAKERs (by whatever spelling variant) also have a BROYLES grandmother back there somewhere? Is she in a generation where all BLANKENBAKERs are also related to ALL WILHITE/WILHOIT and BROYLES/BRILES descendants? Just wondering, but how many other descendants of the various Germanna Colony immigrants also have a BROYLES/BRILES or WILHITE/WILHOIT ancestor in their pedigree? I know that most of the East Tennessee YAGER/YEAGER/JAGER lines have BROYLES in their ancestry. How many more are there? This note didn't start out for me to say what is going to follow, but.....typing it, I just started to think about some things. How many of you Germanna descendants have MARTIN in your ancestry? How many have BROYLES/BRILES, WILHITE/WILHOIT, BLANKENBAKER, YEAGER/YAGER/JAGER, CRUM/KRIM, CLORE/KLAAR, FLESHMAN/FLEISCHMAN, etc., etc., in your ancestry? The reason I ask is that the Germanna Visitors Center is being named after a supposed Germanna immigrant named MARTIN. Don't you think that the Board of Governors for the Germanna Foundation could have chosen a better representative name for the Center? Heck, if I had my choice, the ONE immigrant that left more descendants than ANY other is Anna Barbara SCHÖNE! I vote for the "Anna Barbara SCHÖNE Visitors Center"! ('Course the argument is moot and the "Baudus MARTIN (or whatever his name was) Center" is a "done deal". So much for reality vs. MONEY and POLITICS!) SgtGeorge

1. [BROYLES] More about These Lists and the Gen-Connect Suites of Boards
2. George W. Durman
3. Some of you may have noticed that there are posts to these Lists that originated on the Gen-Connect Boards at Rootsweb. We have configured the Boards so that a post there is automatically forwarded to the appropriate Lists. Here's an example: Someone goes to the Query Board for the GERMANNA COLONIES (VA) Suite. He/she posts a query about a Germanna ancestor, giving name, dates, places, etc. That query will be forwarded to the GERMANNA_COLONIES Mailing List. Now, if you reply to this Query back to the GERMANNA_COLONIES Mailing List, it will only show up on the List, and not on the GERMANNA COLONIES (VA) Query Board. Here's a suggestion: Look at the first lines of the body text of each email on the Mailing List. If one says: Posted on: GERMANNA COLONIES (VA)
Queries Forum Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Va/GermannaColonies?read=39 Then it was forwarded from the GERMANNA COLONIES (VA) Gen-Connect Board, and did not originate from the GERMANNA_COLONIES Mailing List. (You can also identify messages forwarded from the Boards by a line that looks like this: X-Original-Sender: gc-gateway@rootsweb.com Mon Apr 3 12:40:35 2000 What this means to us, the users of these Lists, is that when replying, we should click on the clickable URL link (it should be in a different color in your email browser, and should be underlined), which will take us to the appropriate Board at Rootsweb. Then, we should post our reply THERE! That way, the reply will show up on the Board, AND be forwarded back to the List automatically. Messages to Boards and Lists, other than GERMANNA_COLONIES, will look the same, they will just be identified with the appropriate Board identifier, e.g., Posted on: WILHITE
Queries Forum (or Biographies or Wills Forum, etc.) or Posted on: LOVETTE
Queries Forum (or Deeds or Obits Forum, etc.) Just look for the line that starts with "Posted on:" or contains the word "Forum". There are many, many researchers that "find" the Boards at Rootsweb, but haven't yet become aware that there are also matching Mailing Lists. Or, that WANT to post to the Boards, since the messages stay there indefinitely, as opposed to the one-time receipt using a Mailing List. User's of the Boards can go to one and easily pull up ALL the messages that have been posted there since the Board was formed. A very good place for posts of a more permanent nature. In case there are newcomers reading this, newcomers who haven't received the info on the Boards, here is a repeat of the pertinent information AND clickable links to the Boards I manage: Suites of 3. Hi Terry, My name is Linda Peronto and related to you thur Hans Jacob Broyles, then his son Peter and his son Daniel Broyles who moved from Virginia to Missouri in 1822. Daniel and his wife Virginia Jane Pack Broyles lived in Lincoln County, Missouri. I noticed you mentioned you are also related to the Farmer Family. My grandfather was John William Farmer also from Lincoln County. His father was Alexander Sitton Farmer, born in Elsberry, Lincoln County, Missouri in 1860. I was wondering if we may be related thur the Farmer side also. Do you by chance have an Alexander Sitton Farmer in your data base. Thanks, Linda Peronto ----- Original Message ----- From: Terry Hatfield <hatfeeld@hotmail.com> To: <BROYLES-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, April 15, 2000 4:46 PM Subject: Re: Fwd: [BROYLES] Re: BROYLES-D Digest V00 #29 > Judy: Thank you for your response. My husbands family is descended from Broyles from Monroe Co. Do you know of Broyles potters or merchants who would have produced this piece? L. 2. Thought there might be some information here for some of you. SgtGeorge ===================================================================== A result of your requested PML search. To refine or cancel this search, please visit http://pml.rootsweb.com/ ===================================================================== Source: STARKS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [STARKS] WAYNE CO. KY. SLAVE & OWNER INFO. Hello lists, I've recently checked out a library book relating to "slave genealogy" and steps on how to navigate your way through court/land documents, ect., and in reading it, I see much of the author's research was conducted in WAYNE CO. 3. Rumors of native American blood are very common. I have one such rumor in my own family, and an illegitimate birth that allows the possibility. It might explain my late grandmother's high cheekbones. But, then, her brothers and sisters didn't share this feature, so I have more than a little doubt about the story. It turns out that rumors of this type are quite common and you should take them with a grain of salt. I also saw a recent newsgroup thread about "three brothers" stories, which are another popular family tradition. (You know, "there were three brothers who came to America. One became a gunslinger, one was a famous judge, and the other went back.") I've got one of these stories too. They are very common, and I think they say something about how we like our myths. In any case, one needs to be careful in evaluating these stories. lrswadley@lushen.com on 04/11/2000 02:53:43 AM Please respond to BROYLES-L@rootsweb.com To: BROYLES-L@rootsweb.com cc: (bcc: Steve Broyles/Bos/Teradyne) Subject: [BROYLES] Christopher BROYLES; Linn Co., MO; 1847-1867 Here is what I know of my gr.gr.grandmothers line. I will send you the info in this note to you. I have quite a bit of information on the Broyles also, but I am sure you probably already have it but I would like to swap what I have. If you are staying at your daughters you won't need much of the Motel information. Do you play golf? As you see at the bottom of the letter we are having a Lotspeich descendant Golf Classic. Let me know if you or yours want to play. Am looking forward to hearing from you again and to meet you in Greeneville. Dear Cousins, Plans have finally been completed for the 2000 Lotspeich Gathering! The official meeting place will be the Holiday Inn, 1790 E. Andrew Johnson Hwy., Greenville, TN 37745, 423-639-4185. They have given us a reduced room rate of $58.50 per room (King size bed or Twin beds) max. of 4 people. We will be using their meeting rooms part of the time. Of course you can stay where ever and enclosed is a listing of Motels, Hotels, Bed and Breakfasts Inns and R.V. camps. Registration for the Gathering will be at the Holiday Inn on Friday, June 16. For those of you who get there early, Greenville is full of history, Home of Andrew Jackson, Davy Crocket to name a couple. It has many old plantation houses that may be toured. You can do a driving tour or a walking tour. It is suggested that these tours be taken on Friday since most of the houses are closed on Saturday. There are several cemeteries where Lotspeichs are buried and I plan to have a map showing where John Christopher lived. If you want to check out your family history or compare notes with other family members who have worked on the wonderful history of the Lotspeichs and their descendants there will be a place for us at the Holiday Inn most of the day Friday. Friday evening about 6:30 we will meet at the Holiday Inn for the evening meal to be catered by the Inn. This will be a good time to get to know some of your new found cousins and find out where everyone is staying. Saturday will be a fun day at the City Park. There will be games for the children, swimming and what ever. We have some of our own who will entertain us with music, jokes and family stories. If you have a craft or hobby that you would like to share, please bring it. If you have other talents and want to help let us know. The Lotspeich Golf Classic will also be held Saturday. More information as to where and tee time will come in a later letter If you can't come until Saturday meet us at the park. Saturday evening we can gather back at the Inn after dinner for more quality time together. The place has not been determined yet, but Sunday morning 9:00 we will have a non-denominational devotional service and say our good-byes. It was advertised that there would be some Civil War Reenactors present, unfortunately they will not be able to attend. For those of you that want to fly their are two airports close to Greeneville, Tri Cities Airport at Jonesboro, TN is 30 miles away and Knoxville, TN is 60 miles. I want to thank each of you that has returned your forms. And I would ask those of you would are coming to fill out and return yours as soon as possible so that we can put the final touches to a wonderful weekend. Respectfully, Cuz Bob --------------7D1930F85D5--

1. [BROYLES] Forwarding Messages on GenConnect Boards to Mailing Lists
2. LISTOWNER
3. Rootsweb has just instituted a new feature for us genealogy researchers. Most Listowners also manage Suites of Boards for their Surname, County, State, etc. There has always been a problem with the Boards in that some researchers posted queries and replies ONLY to the Boards and unless Listowners copied the messages and forwarded to the Lists, very few people actually saw them. Now, we Listowners have the option of having Board messages forwarded to the appropriate Mailing List. I have activated this function for one List so far, GERMANNA_COLONIES-L. This weekend I hope to configure the corresponding Boards for all the Mailing Lists I manage. What this means is that when someone posts to a Board, that message will show up on the corresponding Mailing List. It is necessary that all you subscribers are aware of this, so that you can reply to the appropriate email address. If you see a post here on the Lists, be sure to look at the headers to see if it came from a Board. If so, and you reply, you will need to send to the email address of the sender, as many Board posters are not subscribers of the corresponding List. MAKE SURE you also CC: the List on which the post appears, so that we may all see your reply. You can identify which posts are forwarded from the GC-Connect Boards. The FROM: will be: gc-gateway@rootsweb.com Regards, SgtGeorge George W. Durman Knoxville, TN

3. Actually, I had intended for the gentleman who complained about the Bible-NASA article that had appeared, but being busy at work, I did not see that it was not the person who complained who sent something else that did not pertain to genealogy, so please excuse the e-mail. By the way, my name is Vicki Broyles Busby and I am from Orlando, FL. I really need to take time and make sure all of our Broyles kin are registered at this site, which I am sure they are. I have not had the time to move around and see what it is here. I realize the Bible-NASA article offended the one gentlemen and that this site is strictly for genealogy questions, but the Bible-NASA article did not offend me. It offended me that the one gentleman got so upset, but that is how the world is now. As I said, please excuse the e-mail and I apologize that I did not pay attention to what I was doing. Your website is fantastic and I find it wonderful that there are so many Broyles out there.
