    1. [BROWNLOW] Notice about Rootsweb Lists
    2. Jim Jackson
    3. This has been received from the Rootsweb administration: Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state. Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb. As an alternative to RootsWeb Mailing Lists, Ancestry message boards are a great option to network with others in the genealogy community. Message boards are available for free with an Ancestry registered account. Thank you for being part of the RootsWeb family and contributing to this community. Sincerely, The RootsWeb team If anyone has an interest in finding alternative communication possibilities and/or suggestions for alternatives, please send a note to the list to that effect ASAP. With heavy hearts, Jim and Di

    1. [BROWNLOW] Help Keep This List Active
    2. Jim Jackson
    3. We just wanted to encourage you all to make use of this list in your family searches. A large number of Rootsweb lists have been made inactive due to no messages over a period of time. We want to keep as many lists active as we possibly can and your participation will help toward that goal. If you have a "brick wall" in your family search, send in a message with as much information as you have and let's see if someone may be able to help fill in those blanks. Best wishes, Jim and Di

Author: starstruck106 Surnames: Brownlow, Kellow, Keller Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.brownlow/139.1.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I still have not found any documentation supporting where Joseph Brownlow who was born between 1833 and 1838 and married to Francis Kellow/Keller was born or who his father may be. Census data for him states different birth years (appr) and also lists his parents and himself born in Ireland and one census lists that he was born in Canada. The family bibles say that he immigrated from Ireland and that only himself and one sibling survived the trip the rest of the family died. It does not say where he landed but it is believed to be Canada hence the Canada on the census. This would have been during the time of the great Ireland famine. I am at a loss I have located photos from Brownlows in Ireland and England from 500 years ago that are dead ringers (forgive the pun) for Brownlows in my family living today but cannot link back to them. Anyone who has any documents on this line please forward them to me or post them here. Thank you. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. There is one older first cousin, Eugene Brownlow, son of Price Brownlow and Lois Allen still living, he's nearing 90, and another, Johnny Brownlow, about 62, son of Emory Isaac "Buck" Brownlow and Faye Russell there. I am first cousin to both, and Johnny has an older sister living in South Dakota. My Mother was the youngest Brownlow, sister to Price and Buck. I'll check with them, and I will also check with another cousin regarding her data. I goofed! You must have contacted one of my late aunts, or my Mother if it was in the 1990's. Your lines are the same as ours in the NC group who came from Ireland. I met one of the Brownlow elders in the late 1990's in Hereford. She gave me copies of the men in the El Dorado, OK group. They resemble the men in our line a lot. If you can get the dna it would be awesome in order to validate.... Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Can't even find James, except in my generation. Our tree does start in North Ireland, came to the colonies, settled in North Carolina, thence to Giles County, Tennessee, and finally to Henderson County (Athens) Texas. I'll see if my more organized cousin has better information. We still have a few Brownlow's living, one first cousin living in South Dakota, her youngest brother living near here in Hereford, TX. I'll ask them if DNA is important to them. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. We have a Brownlow/Brownlee DNA study at www.familytreedna.com I highly recommend at least a 37 marker test for his ydna. If you can afford it, the Family FInder test can be a useful tool which assesses autosomal dna across all ancestors. If you go to the web site, look under the projects tab, then the B's, and scroll down until you find the Brownlow/Brownlee project...if you sign up in the project usually the prices are a bit lower. They have had a sale which ended yesterday. I am anxious to find out his results as well. Thanks... Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I am trying to restore my files from Windows to MAC, and it isn't the easiest thing to do. You have a great deal of data about the family, perhaps you would be willing to share? I do have a first cousin here in town who also is working to complete the tree, I'll enlist her assistance. Great Grandfather Edward Isaac Brownlow, wed Ada Abernathy, not sure of the date, but she died early and he wed another later. I have that date on another disc.
