    1. My Brownlee's--Washington County

    3. OK here goes...This is what I have. Including the Kit Brownlee you are looking for, Bill. Or at least I beleive so. My Brownlees start with John Brownlee born 1714 in Scotland (of the Torfoot Brownlee's). According to a letter written by Martin Dale Armstrong to the SW Pa Genealogical Society..he beleives this James to be brother to Archibald who came to Washington and settled. I don't have the letter in front of me at the moment but will copy it for the newgroup as soon as I get all my stuff unpacked...Just moved. Any way from the looks of it the John Brownlee that fought in the Revolution must have been his son...He enlisted in Washington Co., PA then settled in Brooke Co., VA/W.VA after the war. Here is where I am fuzzy....Unsure of his son's name but beleive it to be Walter...Am still looking for confirmation on that. Walter? would have had a son named Thomas Brownlee born unk and died c.1840 (Betty, this comes from some of the info you sent me from Salt Lake, thanks). Thomas was married to Julian or Juliane. Thomas and Juliane had the following children: John, Elizabeth, William, and possibly Martin, and James. Julian was living with John and his family in I beleive the 1850 census. Sorry I'm not clear on all...Have alot still on paper and packed away. John was born in 1821 in Greensville, VA and married Eliza Ann Rush (b.3-13-1832 and dau. of Conrad Rush and unk). Eliza is buried in the Washington Cemetary in Washington PA. There children are as follows: Robert Wells Brownlee (my ancestor, we'll get to him later), James Brownlee-c.1863, William Edward Brownlee-c.1855, Absalom Brownlee-April 11, 1857(m. Rose Allen), Walter Brownlee-c.1859, Catherine V. Brownlee-c.1861, John Brownlee-c.1863, Mary E. Brownlee-c.1867, and Marshall Henry Brownlee-June 8, 1872 (m. Jessie Batson). Robert Wells Brownlee was born June 9, 1850 in Wellsburg, VA adn died Mrch 19, 1915 in Washington, PA. His wife was Josephine McCamic, dau of Isaac McCamic and Sarah Piersol. Josephine was b. Jan 6, 1853 and died Nov 29, 1936. Both are buried in the Washington Cemetary. Their children: Nancy E.-c.1874, Eliza J.-3/1875, Samuel P.-12/3/1876 (m. Beatrice Donnelly), Archie Craycraft (my ancestor)-8/26/1879 (m. Ida Mae Algeo), Sallie-1/1882, Fannie- 3/1882, Pearl-6/27/1885 (m. ____ Hunt), William D.-4/7/1888 (m. Rebecca Abramson), Kittie- 11/1889, Grace-6/1894, and Janette-7/1897. I have more information, including the descendants of Archie Craycraft Brownlee and Ida Mae Algeo. Let me know if this helps anyone. Also I have just moved home to Washington County so if anyone needs any local info let me know...I will do what I can. Bridget Shaw Avery [email protected]
