(no date) - Petition of Sundry of the Inhabitants of Westmoreland County - ss/ by Hugh Brownlee (PA Archives, 6th Series, Vol 14, pg 297) 1783 - Taxed in Westmoreland Co. for 300 acres, 1 horse (PA Archives Series 3, Vol. 22, pg (403) James Brownlee. 1783 - Tax Records, Rostraver Twp 3 horses, 4 cattle, 7 white inhabitants (PA Archives Series 3, Vol. 22, pg 369) John Brownlee. 1776 - Roll of Capt. Joseph Erwin�s Company, Private John Brownlee, April 1, 1776; disch. Jan 1, 1778; resided in Donegal township, Washington County, in 1814. (History of Westmoreland Co. PA, pg 455) "This company was raised in Westmoreland County, joined the regiment at Marcus Hook, subsequently included in the Thirteenth Pennsylvania Regiment, then in the Second, and finally discharged at Valley Forge, Jan. 1, 1778, by reason of expiration of term of enlistment. Brooke County, John Brownlee, pr. P. L. June 28, 1818; 80 (PA Archives Series 3, Vol 23, pg 549) There was another John Brownlee who was killed by the Indians in the raid on Hannastown. The History of Westmoreland Co. says he served in Joseph Irwin's Company, but that was probably an error since the John Brownlee who served in that company died in Brooke Co. VA after 1835.
