Hi, I'm new to these lists, just started getting this great information this week. I knew I was related to the Crocketts, McGraws and Westbrooks, but wasn't sure how the Brownlees are new to me. Robert "Rob" Westbrook, born 1860-1875 and Lucinda Brownlee, born abt 1873, in Tate Co, MS, daughter of Stoner and Sallie Crockett Brownlee. They were married and found in Lincon Co, OK around 1895. They had 5-8 children; Thelma, Viola, Jack, Gillie, Houston, and Florence "Peggy", born between 1895-1910. Lucinda Brownlee Westbrook, died abt 1910, of TB in Chandler, Lincoln Co, OK. Rob Westbrook, sent the children back to northern MS to be raised by relatives. -Thelma Westbrook, was the oldest, and was 12 when Lucinda Brownlee Westbrook died. Thelma married unknown and died in Blackrock, AR. -Viola Elizabeth Westbrook, was born Nov 24, 1900, Chandler, Lincoln Co, OK. She lived with an elderly Brownlee family for a while then taken in by Percy and Anna Lewers of Tate Co, MS. She married Edward Emerson and raised 3 children in Memphis, TN. -Gillie Westbrook, born in 1903, and Houston Westbrook were adopted by General Dekalb Garrison. Gillie married Jack Crockett, a cousin, son of Walter Crockett and unknown mother, grandson of Samuel Thompson and Elizabeth McGraw Crockett. This all the proved information that I have on my family, any information would be greatly appreciated. Robert Westbrook may have remarried and started another family, in OK...probably had roots in northern MS. Thank you for your time and effort. Hi Don. I wouldn't want to put those births on my Home Page because they are probably mostly still living. But would you like me to list the deaths under the Brownlees in America and Canada? Betty
I've copied Brownlees from the Texas Birth and Death Indexes. Births cover the period from 1903 to 1972, while deaths run from 1908 to 1994. Glad to do look-ups for others. - Don

A contact in Port Arthur, TX sent me an obit on Laurel Augusta Brownlee, born about 1904 in LA, and died 16 Dec 1957 in Port Arthur. Does he connect to anyone else's Brownlee lines? - Don
I received your message to the Brownlee News Group, Larry regarding your Brownlee line of Fermanagh, Ireland. As it happens I had just run across a copy of a letter in my files regarding Fermanagh Brownlees. It is from Mrs. Ruby McConkey, 31 Tyndale Park, Belfast, North Ireland, BT14 8HE. There is no date, so don't know when it was written, probably a few years ago. The letter was written to Harry Brownlee in Peru, IN and reads: "I am delighted to hear from you - yest I am indeed a direct descendant of George Brownlee of Gardrum County, Fermanagh. I am 63 years old, a sales manager (still working). I am the granddaughter of John James Brownlee, who was born 1846, and who died when I was 14 years old in the year 1940. I heard much of the Brownlee family from my grandfather and I can confirm the story of the Brownlees in King Williams Army, as I heard this direct from my grandfather. " Let me know if this is any help. If she (or you) are descended from the Brownlees in King Williams Army who left Scotland for Ireland, then you are descended from the Brownlees of Torfoot, my line. I have set up a Brownlee Home Page. The address is: http://members.aol.com/Brudo1/index.html. If you'd like me to add your information to the page, let me know. Betty

That's interesting that Pres. Carter is descended from the Brownlees. So is Pres. McKinley. He descends from Archibald Brownlee from Washington Co. PA. Two presidents in the Brownlee family. Not bad.
Betty & Group Although I am not descended from the SC Brownlees, I got Harry's book and found it contains a lot of good info. It is worth the money, if only to look up the family tree of James Earl Carter, our 39th President. His GGG Gm was a Brownlee descended from the SC Clan. It also has the Family of our illustrious Don Brownlee of Cal State in Northridge! Henry F. Brownlee [email protected]
Looking for info on Harrison & Jackson Brownlee, both born about 1830. Harrison believed to have ended up after the Civil War in KY in 1865. Jackson's location unknown. Both were on the Mercer Cnty, IL census for 1850 under James Brownlee's household. Any info appreciated. Thanks, Ted Strzelecki [email protected] McAlester, OK.
Betty, This is amazing. I would love to have the info you mentioned on a Gedcom. I do not know much about Gedcom's however. Do you need to know what genealogy software I use? If so it is Family Tree Maker. Thanks for replying to my query. This is excellent!!! I am going to check out the Brownlee web page as soon as I get through my e-mails. Thank you, Bryan Sherman

I have finally managed to set up my Brownlee Home Page. It still needs work and I'm still learning, but please check it out and let me know what you think. I welcome your suggestions. The address is: http://members.aol.com/BRudo1/index.html I have pages now on The Brownlees of Torfoot and Brownlees in America and Canada. I plan to add one for Ireland and Scotland and one for Australia. So send me your information that you would like included. I've received info from many of you, or course, but won't put it on unless I get a note from you authorizing it. I will be careful not to include information on anyone who is still living. Betty
