I have posted the will transcribed below the Robertson Co TN GenWeb Archives. Can anyone give me any additional info on the Brownings mentioned? I know that Alfred and his wife Ridley moved to Hopkins Co KY by 1830. Was the Edmund Browning who witnessed this will the same Edmund who appeared on the 1830 Hopkins Co KY Census and on the Hopkins Co KY tax lists from 1829-1838? If so, did he die or move elsewhere after 1838? Transcription of Robert Redding’s will (Transcriber’s note: The surname is spelling variously throughout the document as Redding and Reading.) Robertson Co TN - Will Book 3, page 103 ROBERT REDDING’s Will June 16th 1820 [sic] In the name of God Amen I ROBERT REDDING of the State of Tennessee and County of Robertson being in a low state of health and weak in body, but of perfect mind and reason and memory thanks be to god calling into mind the uncertainty of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men________ to die Do make & ________________ this my last will and testament that is to say Principally and first of all I give and _______________ my soul into the hands of God who gave it and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in [p104] a decent and a christian like manner and burial. As touching my temporal and worldly Estate I give and dispose of that in the following manner (viz) Item first, To my dearly beloved wife SARAH REDDING I give and bequeath her bed and furniture, cupboard and the furniture that is in, and belons to it and table, the pewter and such _____________ kitchen furniture as she may think proper to keep??, spinning wheels and looms, Chairs belonging to the house one cow and a calf--one sow and two of the other best hogs, one side saddle and trunk Also the crop that is now about to be made on the plantation where I now reside the present year she is to have my part of that-- Item 2nd. To my Daughter ELIZABETH DORRIS I give one cow and calf--one bed and furniture belonging to it, and one chest and small trunk Also one other bed and furniture in addition to what I have given her [these words are striken out as indicated] Item 3rd to my Daughter CINTHIA BROWNING I give one bed and furniture In addition to what I have given her. Item 4th so soon as practicable after the present crop is gathered in, in the fall of the year should I be no more, my negro boy George, plantation, farming __________ [utensils???] stock of horses, cattle and hogs all to be sold and the money arising from such sale when collected to be equally divided with my wife SARAH READING, RIDLEY BROWNING, CINTHIA BROWNING and ELIZABETH DORRIS--Be it known to all whom it may concern that I do hereby appoint ALFRED BROWNING my Executor to this my last will and testament.
