My Brownings came from the Maryland/Virginia area and migrated to Texas via Kentucky and Tennessee. Some Brownings went west via the Oregon trail. Others left Virginia and went south to Georgia and Mississippi. These are the three main branches I have located so far and history tells me that these were the 'super highways' of that time. I suspect that if your line was in Kentucky, then you need to look at Missouri, Arkansas and Texas. Betcha they left a note saying 'gone to Texas'. I didn't receive the post about 'the book', but if it is the William Hurley book 'Our Maryland Heritage, the Browning Family', it is available from Heritage Books.
