My Browning ancestor is Rachael Caroline Browning, bc.1827 in SC or TN. d.1862-1870 probably in Posey Co, IN. She married John B. Calvin on 07 Jul 1849 in Posey Co. and an Austin Browning signed a statement that she was "of age". On the 1850 Posey Co, IN census, she is listed as Rebecca C., age 23, b.SC. Also in the household is a C. Browning, male, age 25, also b.SC. On the 1860 Posey Co, IN census, she is listed as Rachel C., age 33, b.TN. Also in the household is a Mary Browning, age 11, b. IL. I think it is very probable that Rachel was a sister to Austin, Thompson, and Charles W. Browning, children of Thomas Browning and Elizabeth Rachel Davenport. The Brownings settled in White Co, IL, just a ferry ride across the Wabash River from where the Calvins lived in northern Posey Co., IN.
