Hi! My name is Patti (Browning) Strickler and I was born in IL although I now live in TX. My earliest Brownings are Samuel and Margaret (Markee) Browning, who married in Harrison Co., OH in Feb 1815. I have never been able to find my Samuel's father, but a man named John Browning, b. c1771-5, who was living six households down from my Samuel in 1820-30 Harrison Co OH may be the right man. So far no proof, but I'm working on it. :) Samuel and Margaret lived in OH unil 1852, when they moved to Crawford Co., IL. They stayed there until Margaret's death; Samuel married again to Sarah Ann (??) Gaddis, moved to Shelby Co., IL, and died there. Samuel's children and descendants then scattered through: Illinois (Effingham, Coles, Cumberland, Jasper Co's); Indiana (Sullivan, Marion, Knox, Elkhart, Noble Co's); and most likely MO -- maybe Putnam Co.??
