Henry served in the War of 1812 in the 17th Regiment (Francesco's) Kentucky Militia as a Lieutenant in Capt. Scobee's Company of Infantry. He entered the service on February 8, 1815 at a camp near Newport, KY. for a period on six months. He was discharged at Urbana on March 7, 1815. He received $13.67 for the 200 mile trip back home to Clark Co., KY. He appears for the first time in a Clark Co., KY. taxlist in 1796 as a male over 16 years of age, but under 21. The Clark Co., taxlists for 1831 were difficult to read and there are no books for 1832, as there are no books for Henry Co., KY. for 1831 or 1832; but Henry appears for the first time in a Henry Co. taxlist in 1833. Henry is first taxed for land in the 1814 taxlist. In a deed dated 25 November 1814, he purchased from James Ritchie of Warren Co., KY. 100 acres of land lying on Lower Howard's Creek and part of William Trimble's preemption of 4000 acres [Clark Co., KY. Deed Book #10, p. 412-413]. This same tract of land was sold by Henry and his wife, Peggy, to Thomas Wells in a deed dated 14 March 1832 [Clark Co., KY. Deed Book #25, p. 174-175]. Steve Loose
