N.C. 1843 In the name of God Amen, I, Robert Browning of the county of Caswell and state of North Carolina being in old age though sound in health and memory disposed to settle my worldly matters in my lifetime on this 28th day of January, 1842, do appoint this my last Will and Testametn as follows, Viz: 1st I commend my soul to God who first gave it to me and my body to the dust from whence it came to be buried in a plain and descent manner. 2nd I will and bequeath to my beloved wife Francis Browning three of my Negroes of her choice, one yoke of oxen and cart, two work horses of her choice, the tract of land on the east side of the creek wherein we now live and so many of my stock of cows, hogs and sheep as she may deem necessary for her own support together with so much of my household and kitchen furniture as she may see cause to take out and so much of the cook that may be in hams as may be sufficient for one years support. In her household furniture I include one bed and furniture or so many as she may think proper to take this property for her own use so long as she may live, and after her death, the remainder that may be in her hands to be sold and equally divided amongst my surviving children as will be named in this will. 3rd I will and bequeath to my daughter Nancy Martin all of the property that she has already had. 4th I will and bequeath to my daughter Ann D. Roberson all of the property that she already had of me. 5th I will and bequeath to my son John K. Browning the parcel of land where on he now lives containing seventy five acres including all the improvements on said land to receive said land at three hundred dollars if he may see cause, otherwise to be sold with the rest of my land lying on the west side of the creek, also to have all the property which he has already received of me. 6th I will and bequeath to my daughter Tabitha T. Murrow all the property she has had already. 7th I will and bequeath to my son Sanders Browning the tract of land whereone he now lives, containing one hundred and fifty acres rating said land to be worth three hundred acres left to his own choice whether to receive it or not, if he does not receive said land for it to be sold with the rest of my property. Also I give him all that he has had already. 8th I will and bequeath to my son William L. Browning all the property that he has had of me. 9th I will and bequeath to my son James Browning all the property that he has had of me. 10th I will and bequeath to my son Young H. Browning all the property that he has had of me. 11th I will and bequeath to my daughter Francis S. Smith all the property she has had of me. 12. I will and bequeath to my son Robert I. Browning all the property he has had of me, one Negro boy valued to four hundred dollars. 13th I will and bequeath to my son Elijah G. Browning all the property that he has had of me. 14th I will to my daughter Ava P. Browning one bed and furniture, one bureau. 15th I will and bequeath to my daughter Hanna N. Browning one bed and furniture and one bureau to be bought for her out of my property if I should not get it in my life time. 16th It is my will that all my children render a schedule of the property received of me and it be valued to them before they may receive any more, and all to be made equal and then to share and share alike in the remainder of my estate except the two last Ava & Hannah who is to receive their beds and bureaus as special gifts. 17th I will that after my wife may take out of my estate so much namely as aforesaid then all of the remainder be sold on credit of twelve months and the proceeds be equally divided among my children mainly as before so as to make them all equal shares in my estate. Last of all I do hereby constitute and appoint my son John K. Browning and my friend James Wilder my true and lawful executors to execute this my Will and Testament in manner and form as herein stated in withness whereof I, the said Robert Browning have hereunto set my hand this the day and date as above mentioned, signed, sealed, published, and declared by the said Robert Browning to be his Last Will and Testametn.
