    3. Hello and thank you all for responding. I have been tracking my Browning line for a few years now and I am familiar with the E.F. Browning book and the William Hurley book. I have been told on more than one occasion taht there is no connection between the 'Northern Brownings" and the "Southern Brownings". I assume this to mean those Brownings who followed the Mormon trail west and those who went south into Mississippi, Texas, etc. I have always felt that there was a connection; that they are of the same lineage. Also that for some reason there was a big disagreement in the family that caused a permanent rift. I only recently found that John Moses Browning is connected to my family and that he was one of the northern Brownings and also a Mormon. All my previously known Brownings were southern Brownings and protestant--Baptist, Methodist, etc. I wonder if religion was the reason for the split in the family? I know that politics and religion are real 'deal-killers' as far as wills and inheritances are concerned. I wonder if it was enough to erase all connection? Does any one else have northern and southern Brownings in their ancestry? I also know that my own Brownings split again after coming to Collin County Texas, causing part of the family to move away from a beautiful homeplace and take up residence elsewhere. I don't know the reason for the split yet. I do know that my great-great-grandfather William C. Browning and wife, Rachel Carithers are solitary figures buried in a small grove of trees in pastureland belonging to new owners, while the remainder of the family are buried in well-marked and well-kept cemeteries. 3. My Browning (Brownen) line is in Georgia (south) as early as 1790's and they came to Georgia from Maryland. They possibly stoped in NC on their way. I connect directly to Sarah "Salley" Browning born 1806 Georgia. 1880 she says bothe her parents are born in Maryland. I believe her to be the daughter of Benjamin Browning sister of Nancy, Benjamin, Solomon, & Malinda per her uncles will (Eli B. Browning) Eli B., Solomon, & a Margaret Browning are all on census listings as being born in Maryland. Many descendents of this Browning line moved on west to Alabama, Mississppi, & Texas.
