Hi Peggy, I have some info on two James Elijah Brownings of SC to MS. One is the father, born c1802, Greenville Dist, SC, d. Nov 2, 1870, Pontotoc Co., MS, M: Mary Crawford, and the other, his son, b. July 5, 1832, Laurens Co., SC, d. Feb 15, 1913/14, Pontotoc Co., M: Susanna Smith. I have more on them, if they are the ones you are looking for. They are in my Browning book, but I have more on them now that will be in vol. 2. These are not of my direct line, but found during research in writing my book(s) on the Browning families. On the Browning tree back to Capt. James Browning of Jamestown, I think it has been pretty well proven it is not as in Edward F Browning's book of 1908. In my book of 2003, on the Browning Families, I outline the new thinking on it, including the possibility of the Culpeper Co., VA, and some MD lines, connecting to him, but not as in E F Browning's book. I do not have any copies of my book left, but a vol. 2 is in process and will do a reprint of vol. 1 when vol. 2 goes to the publisher, hopefully late this year.
