Samuel M. BROWNING, possibly a son of John W. and Senepta Jane (Marquis) Browning. Born in Maryland c1793. Married Margaret Markee on 12 Feb 1815. She was born c.1799 in PA. Samuel was a Democrat, a scout on the frontier, and served in the War of 1812 (see above). Was a class leader in the Methodist Episcopal Church in Harrison Co. He removed to Crawford Co., IL, by 1852, when he purchases land. Margaret his wife died c1855, probably in Crawford Co., IL. He then remarried on 1 Mar 1857 to Sarah (??) Gaddis.
