Author: nanablue Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.browning/2698.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I noticed that in the 1870 Montgomery, Georgia census there is a Browning Family that are neighbors of Needham And Clarissa, They are Ira and Effie Browning...He was born abt 1811..He would have only been 14 when Clarissa was born so he is probably not her father...but is probably a relative of some sort...in fact after looking at the 1840 census for which he is the hoh, it only shows him with a female of the age to be his wife and 2 children under 5 one male and one female...in addition there is a Lawrence Browning that has a female person in his Household that is over 60 and under 70 might this be the Mother?..the other one is a James Browning..they 3 Browning men are listed as being between the ages of 30 and 40 ...I am guessing that they are brothers..The 1830 census for same place shows a Daniel, George and Laney Browning living next door to one another...George appears to be the oldest between 50 and 60, Then Daniel and then Laney...Daniel and George both have 1 female! at 5 and under 10..so these may just be the "possibles"..Then I looked at the marriages for Brownings in Montgomery County and they are all after 1825..there are earlier marriages for Browning's in other Counties tho' 1820 census shows the following Browning HOH Record Daniel Browning Not Stated,Montgomery,GA 1820 George Browning Not Stated,Montgomery,GA 1820 James Browning Not Stated,Montgomery,GA 1820 Radford Browning Not Stated,Montgomery,GA 1820 you may already know all this...however if I can assist you further let me know..I am not related/researching this family Regards, Connie Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
