This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Browning, Hardy Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/HNG.2ACEB/1645 Message Board Post: I'm trying to research a Margaret A. (could be Alemeda) Browning, she was born either Apr 19, 1826 in Iowa, Indiana or KY, or Nov 24, 1827 in KY, or Aug 29, 1825 in KY...she died in Wayne County Iowa Aug 6 1872 at the age of 45years, 7mos,17days (on head stone). She is buried in the Confidence Cemetery, Wayne County Iowa (Confidence is a ghost town today). Margaret married first Kinsey Hardy January 18, 1847 in Vermilion County Illinois, where they had three sons Samuel K. Hardy b. 1848 in Illinois, William J. Hardy b. 1850 in Illinois, Kinsey Hardy b. 1852 in Illinois. Margaret's husband Kinsey died December 8, 1852. After his death, Margaret moved with the sons to Muskingum County, Ohio (which is where Kinsey was born and his family lived). Margaret married second German Born Jacob F. Ailer/Aler in Muskingum County, Ohio, where she had two daughters Rebecca Ailer/Aler b. 1860 in Ohio, and Laura Ailer/Aler b. 1862 in Ohio. I have the 1850 Census from Vermilion Co., IL showing this family (incorrectly recorded as Handy), in 1860 Census Muskingum Co., OH Margaret is living with second husband Jacob F. Ailer age 33, Margaret's age is 33 (confusing further how old she really is). Living with them are her sons William J. and Kinsey, Samuel living with his grandparents in the same county. I have been unable to place Margaret with a Browning family, I've tried getting copies of marriage licenses or birth records, there are non in Illinois. Does anyone have her in their family? Or perhaps know which Browning family she came from? The only other information I have is from her son Kinsey's journal of 1869, he was living in Illinois as a teacher and farmer, in January or Feburary he traveled from Illinois to Iowa to settle an estate for his mother. I don't know if this is why they ended up in Iowa or not. Samuel K. Hardy (eldest son) ended up living in Wayne County Iowa from I believe the 1870 Census until 1900 when he left Iowa for Nebraska with most of his family (he and his wife had 18 children in all, born in Wayne Co., IA).. They have three children buried in the same cemetery as Margaret. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.
