Nicholas' father was Francis Jr. (1696) and his father, Francis (1676), then John (1640) and then Thomas (1620) & Hester. I have much information and would be glad to share. The confusion comes from what I call the "Capt. John Browning (1588)" theory. We do NOT come from that line. The source of the CJB theory is the book by E. F. Browning which so many people have taken to be fact when it actually has some pretty bad errors - one being the omission of an entire generation of our Brownings - that's where the problem came in, along with the total shuffling of children. Anyhow, I have what I believe to be absolute proof that we do not belong to Capt John (1588) and will be glad to send it to you. I tried to include it as an attachment to this message but it didn't work and erased my original reply! Bummer!! I'd be delighted to share information. (My mother was a Browning).
