I have the following notes for him: 1735, Settled Gaines X Roads, Orange Co., Va; Francis Browning rec'd grant in Orange 3 Feb 1747, [From deed records from The Browning Quarterly for Fall 1984]: 3 Feb. 1747 - Northern Neck Grant -- Orange Co. VA. record -- deed of property from Fairfax Proprietary to Francis Browning for 100 a. lying in the Little Fork of the Rappahannock River bounded on north side by Gourdville River, corner to James Pendleton, mouth of Cabbin Branch, corner to John Washburn, and line of Col. Henry Willis (now Mr. Pendleton's). 4 Feb. 1747 - Northern Neck Grant - Orange Co. VA. record -- deed of land from Fairfax Proprietary to Francis Browning containing 480 a. lying in the Little Fork of the Rappahanock River, under a steep hill on the northside of the north fork of the Gourdvine adj. to the line of James Cannon, now William Duncan's. 1748, Culpeper Co., Va. formed from Orange Co. 27 July 1748 Culpeper Co. Bk 11, 71 -- For 55 pds sterling, Francis Browning to Thomas Washburn, 250 a. in the north fork of the Rappahannock River adj. to his own patent for 430 a., James Cann, William Duncan, and Nicholas Browning. Wit: Charles Dewitt and Pendleton. 7 Jan. 1753 Culpeper Co. Bk. A, 484 -- For 45 pds. Francis purchased from John Farmer 100 a. of land adj. to William Duncan on the southside of a run called Middle Run. Wit: Wm Strother, John Duncan, Samuel Scott.
