    1. [BROWNING] Browning Book, Vol. 2
    2. Hi, all. I just wish to inform you that my vol. 2 on the Browning families is going to be delayed. No surprise to most who have published. We were pushing hard to get it to the publisher by the end of 2006, but that will not happen. The new target to the publisher is Mar 30, 2007. If any of you have not yet sent me updates to your families, please do so now. Data sent after Dec 1., 2006, may not make it into the new book. For any of you who do not know, in 2003 I published a book on the Browning families, basically an update on E F Browning's book of 1908. Southern line only. This vol. 2 adds to vol. 1, both new families and additions to those in vol. 1, plus some corrections to vol. 1. I will post updates as we move forward. If you have not corresponded with me, now is the time. Regards, Jim Richey

    3. Hi Jim, I have just joined the Browning list on Rootsweb...my particular interest is with a Charles John BROWNING supposedly born in the City of New York on 16th May 1853 and who could have travelled to England before ending up in Australia and marrying a local girl, named Adella Stoneham in Sydney in 1884. I do not know his parents names or if he had any siblings as I cannot find any birth record of him in either New York or England. He states his birth place of New York on all his kids birth certificates but gives no parents names on his marriage certificate. By all accounts he was a bit of a rogue and family legend has him being kicked out of either USA or England for performing illegal abortions! His employment history while in Australia was many and varied ranging from a Chemist, newspaper correspondent, journalist, merchant and accountant! I am at a loss now when I received a copy of your email and am hoping you may be able to point me in the right direction or offer some advice. Charles John is my 2 x great grandfather.
