Does this book include any Scottish/American Brownings..........James Browning, Rutland, Mass. I am a descendant.
Just thought I should notify you all that the response on the reprint idea was not enough to cost effectively do it now. It will be done as Vol. 2 goes to the publisher. The status on vol. 2 is that it is on track to go to the publisher late this year. I have about 450 pages now. The goal was 650 pages and to the publisher in Nov. So it looks good for that time frame. If any of you have not sent me your updates, corrections, etc., now would be a good time to sent them. Thanks and regards, Jim Richey email _TeRealtor@aol.com_ (mailto:TeRealtor@aol.com)
Hi Donna, I have BROWNING G grandfather, according to the Family Bible he was born in New York City 16th may 1853, he died in Sydney, Australia 10th August 1929 and according to his Death Certificate he had come to OZZ C1876. This was really after the gold rushes so we don't know why he came and there are no details that have come to light that offers any information on his parents. As he never sought naturalization but was on the electoral roll it may be that his parents had been British immigrants the USA and in those days to be British (including Canadian, New Zealand South Africa etc) would mean he was not required to be naturalized for any purpose in the colonies. Does this ring any bells with US BROWNINGS ??? This is just a way that I will be able to keep track of everyone who is interested in the reunion. I would hate for someone to miss out on something! As far as the newsletter goes, I first thought that I would attempt to do it on a monthly basis. I bet if everyone saved all that loose change collecting dust, it would add up to a "pretty penny" in a couple of years! If any of you have any other ideas, please send them in. Every little bit helps. For all the people who have offered help, let me know what ideas you may have. As you can see on the site all of my family connections. I'm going person by person, checking and cross checking, trying to get everything a bit more accurate. I'm only in the D's right now so it make take a couple of more weeks before I'm finally finished. I made the mistake of adding some information automatically off of Ancestry.com which is so totally wrong. I won't make that one again. Takes too much time to correct! I have more information about other families from Stonington but not have included them only because they are "cousins" and not direct lineages. I guess I have gone on long enough. I need to post this to the Rootsweb family lists and other sites to get a few more people interested! Hi Jo, I am preparing manuscripts for my vol. 2 on the Brownings and need your help. On the John Browning, died 1857 Elisha (Elijah?) died between 1850-60, and/or Gilbert who died 1880-90, Franklin Co., IL, do you have copies of their wills/estate records, etc.? In my vol. 1, John is #1760b, Gilbert is #3006 and Elisha is #3007. As of that vol. we were not sure of the relationship between them. I thought Gilbert was a son of Elisha, but have not proven any of them as yet. I would like to do that for vol. 2. After studying the census records, 1810-50, on John & Elisha, I think that Gilbert may have been a son of John. John has a son on the 1820 cen., Franklin Co., b. 1805-10, that I cannot account for, and Gilbert "fits" the time frame (he b. c1808). No census record I found on Elisha/Elijah has a son of that time frame. Gilbert is on the 1830 cen., Franklin Co. I have several updates on what we put into vol. 1. When I get it done I will send it to you for your review. Thanks. Jim Richey
Hey everyone! Just to let you know that I have started a website today. It's still in it's infancy, so bear with me. This way you can look from time to time, add your comments or whatever else. Sorry Kat, After going through a few hundred emails the last couple of days, I've lost you. I evidently messed up writing your email address wrong on the "list"! I know that it ends with @u.washington.edu. I tried a few variations without any luck. Please email me back! Donna
My name is Donna M. (Wheeler) Schumacher. I am a direct descendant of Thomas Wheeler, his son Isaac Wheeler and Martha Park(e). My family history has always fascinated me; the further I have researched, the more I want & need to know. After making contact with a few "cousins" out there I've often thought of how great it would be to get together and meet other like-minded extended family members. Hence this idea. I know that some of the larger families have had family reunions throughout the years. My thought was that since so many of the "founding" families of Stonington intermarried, why not have the "Ultimate Family Reunion" with all families included? In 2009, it will be the 360th anniversary of the founding of Stonington. What a great time for all of us to come and celebrate! Just sending this out to get a feel of what you may think about it. If there is an interest in doing so, please let me know. I have never tackled something this large so if there is an interest and others have experience in doing so, the help would be greatly appreciated. Granted, it's a way off but it'll probably take a lot of time to pull this one off! Hoping to hear from you ALL! Sincerely, Donna M. (Wheeler) Schumacher PS-Please forgive me if I have excluded any other families that should be included. Pass this on to them.
I am interested in purchasing a copy of v 2

We had the three day 200th Birthday Celebration for Jonathan Browning this last weekend October 21-23rd at Union Station in Ogden, Utah. It was a hugh success! We have formed Jonathan Browning Family Association and more details are available at www.jonathanbrowning.org. Jonathan is a Mormon pioneer, the father of John Moses, the famous gun inventor and the son of Edmund and Sarah Barbara Allen Browning. We also placed a historical roadside marker in cooperation with the Tennessee Historical Commission at Brushy Fork, Tennessee marking the birthplace of Jonathan. We started off Friday Oct 21 with a reception, followed Saturday by a full day of activities including a Jonathan Browning look alike contest, bus tour and museum tours. Even Al Rounds, a famous Utah artist, joined us selling his picture of Jonathan's Nauvoo, IL gunshop and home. On Saturday evening we had a banquet with guest speakers and a video of the roadside monument dedication. Sunday morning we went d! own to the conference center in SLC and listen the the Mormon Tabernacle Choir's Sunday Broadcast with Ronan Tynan as the guest artist. They recognized us as a family and sang a couple of numbers after the broadcast. What a weekend to remember! "Jonathan Browning, A Man of Honor" Family History CD is ready for orders. The CD is about Jonathan Browning and his descendants but it does contain some of his ancestry. It has 1000 family pictures, genealogy, a history of Jonathan and his timeline. It is copyrighted and cannot be distributed on the net or duplicated. The cost is $29.00 plus shipping and handling. For one CD the shipping is $3.50, for two $5.00. We have some T-shirts that are available for $7.00 plus 3.50 shipping. It has a drawing of his Nauvoo home on the right chest with 1805-2005 "A Heritage Worth Celebrating".
