    2. In March 1844 Nancy Angeline French married Thomas McIntosh in Stewart County, TN. As you know the McIntoshes were closely aligned with the Brownings. Is Nancy Angeline related to you? I don't know if Sarah was her sister, I didn't think she had any sisters. Her mother was Matilda Browning, it is rumored that Matilda (in 1867) had a hush hush affair with an Indian. I am trying to find out who this Indian was, what tribe he was from and where he lived. Arretta was the child from the affair and on the death certificate it is blank where the father's name should be. To top it off my aunts look like they have native american in them plus we have found 2 pictures with indians in them. 1. Mary Browning
    2. Where does Ancestry get the Rhode Island Births 1636-1930 and can we believe them? I have two dates for Mary Browning daughter of John and Eunice Williams Browning. The other comes from the LDS Family Data which I have learned to footnote. I was curious as I came upon this whole list of John and Eunice's children and their births on that RI Births 1636-1930 list and wonder at it's accuracy? Thanks Linda Swaney Sabin

    2. I know how you feel about being alone out there! I am doing Jesse Browning/Eunice Williams of Lucas/Woods Co in OHIO. It has led me back to Rhode Island to Exeter. I found his father John Browning in 1790 but soon there were about 6 John's in RI. I am assuming that mine stayed put and so using that tracking line. Also found his mother's maiden name, Hazard, used as a middle name for other Brownings. Well, good luck on your Jasper and try to go back east with his parents. It is better documented in that time period. Linda Swaney Sabin in OHIO

    3. I've been looking for a Browning family to connect my husband's grgrgr-grandmother to...her name is Margaret Alemeda? Browning born 1825-26 in KY, she married in Vermilion Co., ILL in 1847 to a Kinsey Hardy born about 1818 in Ohio...Margaret moved back to Ohio after her husband died in 1856 remarried to a Jacob F. Aler, after his death she ended up in Wayne County Iowa where she died in 1872...If you need any more information please email me. Is this Margaret Browning within your research information? 2. My husband's line is from Jesse B. Browning 1792-1856 OH and Nancy Powers 1790-1667 OH. I have picture (not digital) of their graves along with Maria Browning Sabin and Thomas Stanton Sabin, her husband. We have visited one of their homes and eyeballed the site of the last farm, near Delta, Ohio. The Ohio turnpike displaced the area of the farm and cemetery and it is a chore to find them. I have some of the other children but have not gone too far on them. I would love to help anyone. Linda Swaney Sabin in OHIO

We found the granite monument to Mr. Browning Sunday April 16, 2006. William Shelfer was Confederate Veteran and it is apparent that he thought highly of Charles Browning for he or his family to have erected such a monument. It's a large granite stone. Monument stands in the Shelfer cemetery just outside of Havana, FL and reads: “Charles Browning As a Slave & Freeman A Faithful Servant His Entire Life to William H. Shelfer & Family 1837 - 1904” The portion were it stands apparently is the black part which is unkept. This is a tragedy considering the many graves and past military headstones, at least WW1 thru Vietnam, that have been placed in this portion denoting past family histories of service to this country. Someone has placed flowers over the years on several of the graves so they must know those buried there and/or cared for them. We would like anyone with information of these men to contact us. We would like to get permission to at least clean around his stone and to get interest of keeping/cleaning up this portion of cemetery.
