    3. Hosea Browning, born in 1906 in Muhlenberg Co KY, died in Vanderburgh Co IN, on 26 Jun 1986. He was the son of James Thomas Browning, born on 23 Jan 1859 in KY, and Fannie B. Hosea married Rosa Blake 17 Oct 1923 in Hopkins Co KY; Rosa was the daughter of John & Belle Rice Blake, born about 1909. I don't know if they divorced or she died. Hosea married Brooksey Rolley 30 Nov 1928 in Muhlenberg Co KY; Brooksey, b 1907, was the daughter of William & Dora E. McElvain Rolley. 1910 Muhlenberg Co KY Census Hosea is in hh of John Lee as “Hoshea” Browning b 1906 KY, lodger. 1920 Muhlenberg Co KY Census in hh of John Lee as “Hosey” Browning b 1907 KY, adopted son. 1930 Muhlenberg Co KY Census as H. Surnames: Browning Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/HNG.2ACEB/1680.2 Message Board Post: The oldest Hosea Browning I have researched so far is Hosea Douglas Browning, DOB 1806 Tennessee and DOD 1876 Panola County, Texas. This Hosea and his wife, Elizabeth, had at least 11 children, including Hosea D. Browning, DOB August 1850 Henry County, Tennessee. In this family, a few of the older children remained in Tennessee (including my ancester, James Reuben Browning) while Hosea, wife Elizabeth and the younger children moved to Texas. In various census reports, the younger Hosea is listed as "Hosie", seemingly a nickname. You didn't say where or when your Hosie Everett Browning lived, but he may be related in some way to my Tennessee/Texas Brownings. Post more info if you have it and I'll see if I can help you out.

That's the first thing to find out, then see if there is an obit for him in local papers or obtain his death record. That might give you clues as to where he was born and who his parents were. 1986 is recent enough that there might be some good info available. I did a google on his full name and got nothing, but when I dropped the first name came up with lots of hits. It's possible the Hosie was a nickname or that he used his middle name on legal documents.
