Because of the old saying "Never say never." My understanding is that her name was Celia Ann. Except, the 1870 Census has her listed as Caroline. I haven't been able to find her folks, Benjamin & Jeannette Samantha DUNCAN BROWNING in the 1880 Census yet, so can't compare. I checked the Adams Co. 1920 Census for Allison's and didn't come up with anything. I've checked to see if a Celia Allison remarried before 1900 in IL. Nope. I should just check Allison's. I've checked for various spelllings including Ellison. No luck. Celia isn't my direct line, so it's not as vital as it might have been, but I get curious about people and wondered what happened to her. Did any of your Browning's come to Southern Illinois? Here is what I know about the folks you list. Celia's parents were Benjamin & Jeannette Samantha DUNCAN BROWNING of While, Johnson & Pope Counties in Illinois. Ben & Jeannette were my GGreat-Grandparents. James M. STEWART & M. C. BROWNING. She is Mary Catherine "Molly" McGINNIS and is my Great-Grandmother. She married 1) James Wesley "Wes" BROWNING in 1898. He was the son of Ben & Jeannette BROWNING and brother of Celia. "Wes" died in 1899, 3 wks before my Grandma, Jeannette BROWNING SOPER, was born. "Molly" married 2) Jim STEWART as shown here. Martha E. BROWNING m. George W. JOHNSON. Martha was a niece to my Ben BROWNING. Her parents were John Delap & Serena CARR BROWNING. Mary BROWNING m. T. J. HALL - I don't know for sure who these folks are. However, she MAY be another niece of my Ben. His brother, Thomas, had a daughter, Mary. Her age would be about right, but I don't know if they are one and the same. I have a Permelia A. BROWNING in my file. She is the daughter of Joshua N. BROWNING & Mary Matilda ROBERTSON. Joshua was a 1st cousin of my Ben. Now, William R. DUNCAN MAY be the nephew of my Jeannette Samantha DUNCAN BROWNING (Celia's Mom). Jeannette's brother, William "Carrell" DUNCAN did have a son, William R. whose age would be right. And, finally, Sarah BROWNING who married F. E. (Francis Edward) GRANT is another daughter of John Delap & Serena CARR BROWNING. Don't worry, there won't be a test. <grin> Happily in Christ, Harlene

    3. Found Charlotte Olds will, mother of Chester A. Olds - the will was entered into court records in June 1871. Her first request was to be buried next to her son in the Benton Cemetery. 3. Jim, I was just giving the basics because I will send you the papers. The lawsuit was in Travis Co., Texas. They apparently lived in Austin. John H. Bostwick was my ggg-uncle. His sister, Mary Caroline Bostwick, married Asa Thomas May, son of William May and Elizabeth "Betsey" Browning May (daughter of John and Nancy Peebles Browning). They were my gggrandparents. I have lots on John Bostwick. Well, not lots, but more than just the Browning information. Chester A. Olds - I seem to loose him after the 1860 census. He and wife, Alice Bostwick, daughter of John H. Bostwick Pamela Browning Bostwick's oldest daughter, had a child, James Bostwick Olds, who was with his grandmother, Charlotte, in the 1870 Census, Selma, Dallas County. Chester was apparently the Constable for Dallas County. I have a record that shows he was exempt from military service because he was the constable. But, then there is a record that shows C. A. Olds enlisted in Goldthwaite's Batt'y. Alabama L. Art'y as a private May 10, 1862. I don't know what happened to him from there. James Bostwick Olds married Sallie Jones, according to my grandmother's records. This may be because she knew James and Sallie. I just don't know. At any rate, at least now Pamelia Browning is with the correct parents.
