All I maybe doing is creating more confunsion > (2)John Browning born 1728 in Culpepper Co, VA married Elizabeth Demarest, lived and died in Culpepper > Co, VA. Their children were: > James,1745; Joshua,1746; Enos,1751; Francis,1753; JohnRadford1757; William,1759; George,1761; > Eunice,1762; Daniel,1764. > (3)Joshua Browning born 1746 in Culpepper Co, VA married Ann Scott, died 1814 in Bourbon Co, Ky. I would appreciate > information about the other children of Thomas Browning and Elizabeth Wright. > -- I not sure about the 2 John's thing. Its possible. I not sure is his wife was Dermarst. For sure there was two Josuha Browning. one in GA and one in Bourbon KY. I sure some of the above is picked up from E.F Browning book. Enos Browning was not the son of any John Browning. Enos is mention in will of Nicholas Browning in 1786 in Casewell Co. NC We need somebody that is sure of the John in GA history and the names of his children. I think they would have to include... Anna, Joshua, William. Eunice, Clarrissa, John Radford that died in ARk.. I believe I remember a will that named his children. I don't have it. PS Found posting, of will, Joshua of GA, now need his fahter John's will. Joshua and Margaret have 6 children mentined in will 3 sons, Williian, Joshua and John 4 daughters Ann (Browning) Crow, Nancy, Margaret (B rowning )Parker and Mary. Will written on May10, 1807 Let go over those Browning that have connection to Bracken, Mason, Fleming, Bourbon Co. in KY 1. James, grandson of Capt James born 1745 in Culpepper, Capt. James died in Clark Co. KY 4. Joshua b~ 1747 that married Nancy Scott died in Bourbon in 1814 5 sons of Joshua above, ... ... Thomas married Elizabeth LeWright in Mason Co.. .. James that married 2nd to Jane Whitledge, ... Edmund Woodville that married Hannah Dicks ... and probably John that married Francis Pendleton. 1. [BROWNING] Brownings
    2. DEBBIE MCQUEEN
    3. The Brownings I'm looking for are the grandparents of my mother-in-law. They were from the Harlan County, Kentucky area and she moved from there when she was little. She doesn't know much about them except her grandmothers name was Louisa Browning. Married name was Browning. Who in turn married a man she thought was named Joe Grills. The Brownings you have emailed me are probably connected somehow. She thought they derived from Germany. She did not know her grandfather either and could not supply a name. Do you have anything about a Louisa Browning and children Ethel or Nan.

    2. Hi, My ancestors go back to the Culpeper, VA Brownings (John was the first arriving from England in 1621) and I have pretty good info from back then...where my trail gets cold is after my Great, G, G Grandparents: Charles W. Browning/Catherine A. Hines moved from Culpeper to Audrain CO, MO circa 1840s. My Great, Great Grandparents are George Festus Browning/Mildred Lewis Botts, and my Great Grandparents are James Arthur Browning/Martha Caroline Moore. Other than names I have no info (siblings, children, etc) and am interested in fleshing out the info from there. Any "cousins" out there that can help? Thanks, Tom Browning

    2. I also have a William Browning in the family line that I am researching. I realize that William is a common name, so the chance of a match is slim, but... William M. Browning was the head of the household, and the census information shows him with several children, one of which was a William Wesley Browning. Both are buried in Jefferson County, Alabama. I have information on their descendants, but not their ancestors. Just thought I'd throw their names out to see if they fit with someone's info. J. Johnson

    3. This is for Winslow and Tom: I also am a Browning trying to trace my roots. From William Browning born around 1810 in GA to ALto GA to AL to TX. I have not been able to find siblings or parents. We show him married to Nancy ? and having many children. I have his childrens names and dates including mygggrandfather Wylie/Wiley B. Browning who married Exa Ann Law. They had many children with John Lacey Browning born 1880 my ggrandfather. My cousins's grandmother was his sister Clemmie Iola Browning Sellers. I am also a Humphreys. My gggrandfather was George Washington Humphreys born 1851 in Greenville, Mississippi. Trying to locate his parents and siblings. Have names of his children, etc. Have sent to Austin, Texas for his death record in hopes of finding more information. He was a lawyer, real estate agent, county commissioner in Cleburne, Johnson County, Texas. He was married to Sarah Angeline Thompson. Does any of this information coincide with yours? KY Hi, Tom, Jean, Lee, & Kelly. This is Winslow Browning. I appreciate your quick responses (9/1/99) to my (8/31/99) entry on [email protected], Yes,Tom, I think I will take you up on your generous offer to scan your files for me, but not just yet. I know that's going to take a lot of your time. I can be patient. Of immediate interest is the fact that you are Researching BROWNING, REED, MOODY, HUMPHRIES. Is your REED connection the same as mine? My Great-Great-grandmother was Julia Reed, daughter of William Reed. On 6/19/1832, Julia Reed maried Ludwell Yancy Browning. (Ludwell Yancy,1807) Their children were: William Reed,1833; Thomas,1834; Mary,1837; Elizabeth,1839; Woodville,1840(is this Edmund Woodville?); Ludwell Yancy,1842 died 1843; Ludwell Yancy,Jr.,1844; Theodoric Lee,1845. It certainly would be good luck if one of these was yours, but that's too easy, probably. (I came from Ludwell Yancy, Jr.). I agree that the naming practice of our ancestors (WHOEVER they are) provided ample opportunity to err, for those of us who try to place them in some sort of structure. When I first started this pursuit, it seemed to me that in every generation there were seven to ten descendants of every member of that generation, and so on, and so on, and so on. And that every member of each generation felt compelled to name his offspring names used by the preceding generation, so that in generation 1,there was one John with one son John, and nine sons with other names. In generation 2, there was one son John with one son John, and nine other sons with one son John ( Ten sons John). In generation 3, there were ten sons John with one son John and ninety other sons with a son John ( One hundred Johns in only 3 generations. Maybe we could get some of them mixed up). The other names were hallowed, too, and so we have several Williams, and Jacobs, and Joshuas,Edmunds, Woodvilles, and Toms. Only Four Ludwell Yancys that I know of, and three Winslows, so far. One of the people who responded to my entry was Lee Minnis. I don't know if you saw his entry on roots web at 11:40 AM, 9/1/99. He provides information on the children of Joshua and Nancy Ann Scott. Joshua had a father named John,a brother named John, and a son named John, and probably some uncles named John - all in Culpepper, Co.,VA. He has a website at http://home.att.net/~lminnis/thomas.htm It was Kelly Parks entry of 8/7/99 that sparked my entry of 8/31/99. On 9/1/99, he responded with a connection at Thomas and Edmund (sons of Joshua). Kelly has websites at http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Garden/5881/ and http://www.kellyparks.cjb.net. His email address is [email protected], and he requests from us a mailing address if there is a family connection. Says he has lost several cousins because they change internet server providers. I hope I'm correct in saying 'he'. Kelly is a nice name for either gender. Jean McCullough posted an entry 9/1/99 also, at 8:14 AM. She has the will of John Browning,1728 Culpepper,Co,VA, and asks that all of us add Clara to the list of children of John and Elizabeth Demarest. She also reminds us that after Elizabeth died, John married Susannah Boring and moved to Greene Co, Georgia. The will names his beneficiaries as: Wife Susannah; sons William, Francis, & John; daughters Anna Bird, Phebe Boring, Sincy Fuller,Clara Harrelson, and Millicent Wright. His will goes on , " I also give to my son Joshua Browning one Dollar and desire my Executors to pay him that sum....." Wonder what Joshua did. He would be My ancestor ! I apologize to everybody for my error in the 8/31/99 entries saying John died in Culpepper Co, VA, and omitting his marriage to Susannah. I had that information and inadvertently omitted it from the postings.
