    1. [BROWNING] Browning family branches
    2. Mitzi Hammond Perkins
    3. I notice that the queries lately seem as though to be researching two different, unrelated families named Browning, based largely upon geographical location. It is my humble opinion that there is only one Browning family, and it would be a mistake to discount information for that reason. I believe Mr. Hurley touches upon this in his book #12 in the Our Mary Heritage...Browning Families. If memory serves, he indicates that at some early point after reaching this country, the family split--one branch moving generally westward and the other south. He also writes that it is unclear at which family group the split occurred. In tracing my own search, I find that some information shows the Brownings moving west into the Ohio River valley area and eventually as far as Utah and Oregon. Others travelled south to the Shenandoah and beyond as far as Georgia and into Texas, with some through Tennessee and Arkansas into Texas. I have found, so far, that my line comes from both the Georgia and Arkansas trails and into Texas where I now live. If we can put all the known information about the Brownings into an historical timeline, maybe we can find that the break in the family was due to a difference of opinion over the Revolutionary War (were some loyalists and the others not?), or a religious preference (did one part of the family convert to Mormonism and head for Utah?); was there an unforgiveable disgrace visited upon the family by one or more of it's members such as marrying an Indian or a disownment for other reasons? Did someone get mad over an inheritance? I don't want to sound like a lecturer or put off someone, but please don't ignore information you may find just because the location is 'wrong'. It's still a piece of the puzzle and will fit eventually. I hope this helps. Mitzi Hammond Perkins

    2. Mitzi Hammond Perkins
    3. My Browning line is from Capt. John Browning, ca. 1620, Jamestown, VA. My mother was Mattie Lee Browning Hammond 1927- 1986. Her father was Dewitt Clinton Browning 1877-1971. His parents were James Wellington Browning and Joanna Elizabeth Holder-actually she has seven given names, but I can't remember them all right now. All are buried here in Collin Co. TX. I have this line completely filled in with details back to Capt. John, but two bad motherboards in the last two weeks have prevented my reentering the files in the computer. I just got back online today, so if anyone makes a connection to my line, let me know and I will send the information asap. Mitzi Hammond Perkins

    1. [BROWNING] Roll Call -Bracken Co. KY,(two lines) Andrew,William, & Stanfield,Allen,Edmund
    2. kelly parks
    3. This is my problem. Looking for info on the following; Andrew Browning (called Andy) born Nov 1852 (1862)(census) in ?Bracken Co. Ky. Andrew died 24 Nov 1929 (death certificate) in Campbell Co. KY. Andrew married Mary Browning 17 Feb. 1881 in Bracken Co. Andrew is in the 1900, 1910, 1920 Census of Bracken Co. census. His wife is listed as Molly. By census Mary / Molly birth date is 1862-61-63. Andrew and Mary had 3 known children. They were Joseph A born 1883, Charlie Logan born 1892, Cora born 1895. Joseph died in 1931 in Campbell Co. Charlie died in 1965 in Bracken Co. Cora married Elmo McAtee and they moved to Ohio. Who are Andrew's and Mary's parents?? A. Andrew's death certificate says father Andrew. Info was not given by a family member. B. Family legend says Andrew's father was Joe Jackson. C. I believe that by census record that andrew's father was William J Browning . READ BELOW ABOUT William J. D. I believe that Mary's father could be Stanford/Stanfield Browning. Mary died between 1920-1929. I haven't been able to find her death certificate.. William J. Browning was born 1818 KY (by census). He died about 1892 (will) in Bracken Co. KY. He married Ellen Tucker 5 Jan. 1845 in Bracken Co. KY. The bondsman was William & "Jackson" Browning. William's will and census showed these as children : Lucinda/Lucretia., Robert A. Eliza Jane, Andrew (father's will says andrew's wife name Mary), James M. Mary Francis, Margaret C., William Thomas. Living next to Andrew in 1850 & 1860 is a Edward Browning see his info below. According to family legend of Andy, his brothers were named Bob, Jim, Tom.. Could these be the same as William's male children Andy =Andrew, Bob=Robert, Jim=James, Tom=Thomas. ? One more piece to this puzzle in Bracken Co. Tax list of Browning in 1845, 1846, 1848, 1850, 1851 William J has 200 acres. William J. is the only person that has 200 acres during this time. Pre 1844 and in 1849 after 1851 William J Browning has only 100 acres. The strange thing is, in the year 1847 where William J. should be , he is missing. There is Andrew J with 200 acres. This takes me back to Andrew's death certificate of his father as Andrew. Who is the parents of William J. Browning? I have no idea. I believe that Jackson, edward, William J. are closely related. What is William J. Browning full name? Could it be William Andrew Jackson Browning? Edward Browning was born ca 1826 KY. He married Rebecca Tucker (?sister to Ellen) Their bondsman was Edward & Jackson Browning. I believe that Rebecca and Ellen were sisters and that their father maybe David Tucker. Edward's children were Nancy 1847, Mary E 1850, Martha A 1853, Andrew Jackson 1851, thomas J, Angelisa. He is in Bracken Co. census 1850 & 60. I haven't located this family after this. Edward's son Andrew died Feb 1931 in Harrison Co. KY. Jackson Browning is listed in Bracken co. tax list in 1842 and 1843. There is no list between 1837 and 1842. Jackson was the bondsman for Edward and William J in 1845/6. I have never found Jackson in any census. UNTIL I FOUND HIM IN THE TAX LIST, I WONDER IF HE EXIST. He is not listed in Deeds. I find these in the tax list repeatly living close by Edward and William J. They lived in Camp Creek area. 1842 Benjamin Sr. ,John, Jeremiah, Jackson, martha 1843 Martin, Jeremiah, John, William , Benjamin / Benjamin Sr , Jackson 1844 Martin, Jeremiah / Benjamin SR & JR, John , W.J. 1845-46 Wm J., Benjamin JR & SR., Martin, Jeremiah 1847 Benjamin JR & SR., Martin, Jeremiah, Andrew J. 1848 Wm J., Edward 1849-53 Wm.
