Hi, I'm looking fr any information on John Browning who married Suzannah Teague. Their children (from different marriages) were themselves married. They were Isaac Boring and Phoebe Browning. If any one has any information on him and either of his wives I would really be grateful. John was a member of the Continental Army from North Carolina. Hi All!, Sherrie Browning Wallace here. Nancy-email name Rainbowfish- (gosh I don't even know her REAL name yet!) and I think it's high time that the Browning's (and our related lines) of Robertson Co., got together and had a reunion! I KNOW that I have GOT to STILL have some cousin's still in and around Robertson Co., TN. I'm ashamed to say that even though we were close through our "teens" we haven't seen each other in years. We would like to hear from any of you who are interested in a reunion in Robertson Co., TN. All related lines would be invited and welcome! Sherrie Wallace [email protected] or [email protected]

I am somewhat confussed on this Browning Family and hope someone out there can help straighten me out. My Great, Great grandmother's parents were Nicholas Browning born March 18, 1786 in Burke Co. N.C. and died abt. 1855 in Limestone Co. AL. & Mary Mckinney born April 23, 1789 and died June 1830 in AL. According to some info that I have gotten, Nicholas Browning was the son of John Browning born abt. 1766 in Culpepper, VA. & Unknown Pendleton. Other children of John Browning & unknown Pendleton were David C. , John Jr., Martin, Thomas, & Charles. John Browning was the son of Joshua Browning & Ann Scott. Other children of Joshua Browning & Ann Scott were Thomas, Francis, Enos, James, Annie, Edmond, Jacob, Polly, Elizabeth, Hannah, Mary Malinda, and Jennie. Joshua Browning was the son of John Browning & Elizabeth Demearest. However, other info I have gotten does not coincide with this at all. I have been told that John Browning Sr. was born abt. 1745 in Culpepper, VA. and died after June 1817 in Giles Co. TN. & that he married Dorothy Davenport, and they had the following children: Martin born abt. 1770 in N.C. and died before 1836. Charles was born abt. 1774 in N.C. and died after 1822. and Thomas was born abt. 1778 in Burke Co. N.C. died abt. 1827. Any help or insight on this Browning family would be much appreciated. Many Thanks Robbie
I am seeking info on John Browning & Elizabeth Demarest of Culpepper, VA. My great, great grandmother was their 2 nd great granddaughter. Her name was Jane Browning. She was the daughter of Nicholas Browning & Mary McKinney. I would love to learn more about them. Many Thanks Robbie

Thank you to everyone who responded to my inquiry about webpage protocol. I sincerely appreciate the response from the lady that said she didn't want her mother's maiden name posted. Because the morally and ethically challenged surf the web, they would use this type of information for fraudulent purposes. Now I have a much better perspective on the subject and will not include anyone that was born during and after the 1940's in my genealogy page. May you all be blessed with interesting skeletons in your closets, Carolyn It is indeed a desirable thing to be well descended, but the glory belongs to our ancestors. -- Plutarch
Carolyn, Many people put living family members on line - many don't. After all, most names are in the phone book. It can't be illegal if the information you give out is already public. I have had cousins flatly refuse to give me any info beyond their grandparents - or whichever generation is the last living. I have had others give me everything down to their children without any concern at all. Personally, I don't consider names and towns of residence to be personal information. I often publish birth and marriage dates, too. All of those are public record if anyone decides to check. However, I generally check with any living people on my page before including them. Anyone that tells you there is a certain protocol or "standard" way of doing web pages is merely expressing their opinion. I have found that some people think their opinion is "law." Be careful of following their advice. The privacy mode is generally used when uploading your tree to commercial sites, such as Family Tree Maker. Personally, I never do that because they take your data and sell it. My advice . . . check with the living people in your tree, see how they feel about it and follow their wishes. If any outsider offers their opinion that what you are doing is wrong - that's all it is - an opinion. That's what I think . . . but of course, it's only an opinion. :) I suspect this "opinion" may cause a little controversy, but that's OK. Jack Cox BTW, My Brownings are from Lexington, KY, Nicholasville, KY, Greene and Macoupin County Illinois. Does anyone know what the protocol is for naming living persons on your genealogy webpage. I have names only without any personal information about the living persons and I have been told that "it is not proper or legal to place the names of living family members unless they have given their permission". I thought that only pertained to personal information and that is why one must use the privacy mode when creating a genealogy webpage. I don't consider a persons name as personal information but do consider anything about that living person as personal and not to be shared with the whole world without permission. Am I all wet? ~Carolyn Menges

Does anyone have any info on Browning in Toledo, OH. Only have Harold Browning died 1951 in Tulsa, OK area, buried in private Indiana cemetery. His sister Mable claimed the body and had it shipped for burial there. He had a least two brothers John, Robert? I don't know his parents names (my grandparents) My grandmother died of cancer in the 1940s. My grandfather was ninty-something when he died in the mid 1950s. I only know of this browning family in Toledo, have no other clue. If I could find his parents names that would be of great help. I have tried to get his death cert., but he didn't die in Tulsa proper, I guess. Harold was born in Michigan, but I don't have a city. He worked for a furniture co. in Kansas as a district salesman at least in the early 1940s. He was a musician, played the drums and had a three piece combo in Toledo at some time. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Paula Ann Browning Price
