    2. Tom Browning
    3. Hi All, I sent this message out a couple of months ago, but due to technical problems it had to be reposted by the list mom (thanks Yvonne)and then I had problems sending out the info. Now that I've gotten through the technical problems, I've decided to repost to make sure everyone has an opportunity to receive the info that I have. I have transcribed the following files from print and am making them available to list members. Please be specific about which files you would like me to send. All files are in MS word format with some jpeg graphics, so be sure your server/computer can handle it. File 1 - 3MB Copies of the 1983 "Browning Quarterly". Establishes Thomas & Hester Browning as the progentors of the Southern line in contrary to EFB's book. Some English ties are listed. Well documented with sources sited. File 2 - 147KB Pedigree of Thomas & Hester Browning (9 generations); Captain John Browning (8 generations); Unknown Browning (4 generations) compiled by Dottie Elliot. File 3 - 32KB Narrative on why the Southern Browning line does not appear to descend from Captain John Browning. File 4 - 661KB Pedigree of another John Browning (my relation) compiled by Dottie Elliot. This one shows that Joshua Browning & Nancy Ann Scott are not in the John Browning & Elizabeth Demarest line. File 5 - 207KB EFBrowning's Captain John Browning Pedigree. This has not been corrected. You may request any or all of the files by e-mailing me direct at [email protected] Let me know which of the files you want by file number. Good luck. 3. Hi all! I'm new to this list and thought it was time I posted the Browning family I'm looking for. I'm praying there are some descendants of this couple who'll contact me, as I don't have much on them. Alfred Browning married Elizabeth Karr, 16 December 1857 in Fayette Co. IL (Vandalia). Elizabeth is my g-g-grandfather's youngest sister. She was the daughter of James A. and Charlotte ("Charity") Bailey Karr. James A. was born in Madison Co. Ky in 1800; Charity born in GA in 1803. When she and James married in 1820, Madison Co. KY, Charity is listed as orphan. One of Alfred and Elizabeth's daughters married a Lewis Arney in Fayette Co. IL, and I've found some of the Arney descendants. Does anyone have these people in their line? Any help appreciated! PJ

I beleive WRIGHT might have been a family name. He was in Ga and married MARY FENDER in 1838, in Lowndes County. Lowndes Co. was made into Clinch in 1850. The BROWNING's lived in the 10th land district, lot 388. In 1920 that section was made into Lanier Co. I am looking for any information on his life in NC and his early life in Ga.

    3. I have been looking for a way to do lookups in E.F. Browning's book, Brownings in America, and have just found a way. WWW.GenealogyLibrary.com has put the entire book online. They have a name index, or you can just look at it page by page. The downside of this is that you must join, at $9.99 a month, or there is also a yearly fee. I decided to join, others may not. I just wanted everyone to be aware of the opportunity to view this out of print book. I do not have any interest in this web site, it was simply pointed out to me by a fellow researcher. My Browning line is from brothers Francis and Edmund(double dip), son's of Enos Browning and Jane Trim. - David Browning Jr. - [email protected] - Researching Browning,Curry,Robinson,Webb,Perry,Frazier,Chafin,Chapman,Workman,Elliot,Pre ssley,Parsley,Vance,Hatfield, and others.

    3. I apologize in advance for further posting on this toopic - but I think it is important. I usually do NOT get involved in warnings, because they are not germane to the genealogy lists. However, FamilyDiscovery.com has recently spammed an ad for their service, and you should be aware of the implications. Some facts: The site is apparently run by two teenagers. One of them is pictured here: http://gene_olson.tripod.com/Abodeely.html Their site is comprised of information they have mined from other sites, or they simply give links to sites that they don't own. They are selling you information that they don't own. The phone numbers they give in their domain registration are bogus. One goes to a TV Station information line, and one goes to a carpet store. The email addresses on the site are bogus. A gentleman named Gene Olson is working on this very diligently. His URL is listed below. http://gene_olson.tripod.com/ I request that you not flood the Rootsweb lists with comments about this email. If you have any questions, sent them to my email address. If you have had a specific problem with FamilyDiscovery.com - especially if you have paid money and gotten no service, please contact Gene Olson via his web site.

However I do not know what happened to him since that time and if you find him in your files I would be grateful. Jeffrey BROWNING, born 1862, Saffron Walden, Essex. Jeffrey appears on the 1881 Census aged 18, unmarried, lodger at 4 South Street, Newhaven, Sussex, occupation 2nd Class Clerk HM Customs. Living at home of John Gurr (Customs Asst Officer). At the time of this Census Jeffrey's parents were living in Kensington with their daughter Frances Mary BROWNING. His parents were: Alfred French BROWNING and Emmeline Mary FRENCH.
