    2. Hines
    3. At least these three Brownings are buried in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Mason Co., KY. There may be many more there, but I don't have a complete listing of them all. John H. is the son of John N. Browning & Catherine Bramel. I have his KY death certificate. I believe the Sarah J(ane) Browning was John H(enry)'s wife. So far, I have not been able to figure out her maiden name. Frank K. Browning is probably their son - I don't have any death cert. for him to prove it. Browning, Frank K. B. 6-Dec1872 D. 9-Oct1900 Browning, John H. B. 5-Oct1833 D. 26-Jun1924 Browning, Sarah J. B. 11-Feb1847 D. 14-Nov1926 I highly regret that I have not located the burial places for John N. & Catherine (Bramel) Browning as yet. I currently believe that John N. Browning was born in 1808 in Fleming Co., KY. I believe that he probably died near Orangeburg, Mason Co., KY after 1871 (and probably after the 1880 census too.) If anyone has access to a Mason Co., KY 1880 census index or the actual records, I would greatly appreciate a lookup on John N. Browning's family near Orangeburg, KY. Thanks and Best Regards to All, Kathy Hines in MN

    1. [BROWNING] Caleb BROWNING
    2. Kit & Jo Kramer
    3. Hi All, I have been watching this list and gathering information from many of you, and I must say that I am very confused. First there is 2 books. One by E F Browning and another by Hurley. If that's not confusing enough, I descend from Caleb BROWNING b 1750 and Caleb BROWNING born 1734. I think it's really Caleb 1750 son of Edmund BROWNING born 1732. I then go to Elijah BROWNING b 1768 and Jane ?; then Gilbert BROWNING born 1807 and Elizabeth STEELE; then Samuel Stack BROWNING born 1826 IL/KY, and Martha THORNTON. I received the copies of the BROWNING QUARTERLY, file 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 that was offered by Tom Browning, but can't decide from which book he bases his info on. The more time I spend the more confused I get. I'm ready to decide that Thomas and Hester is my starting point, but it now seems that everybody comes from these two. Does anybody come from Captain John? Any light would be appreciated. Jo

He entered the service on February 8, 1815 at a camp near Newport, KY. for a period on six months. He was discharged at Urbana on March 7, 1815. The Clark Co., taxlists for 1831 were difficult to read and there are no books for 1832, as there are no books for Henry Co., KY. for 1831 or 1832; but Henry appears for the first time in a Henry Co. taxlist in 1833. Henry is first taxed for land in the 1814 taxlist. In a deed dated 25 November 1814, he purchased from James Ritchie of Warren Co., KY. 100 acres of land lying on Lower Howard's Creek and part of William Trimble's preemption of 4000 acres [Clark Co., KY. Deed Book #10, p. 412-413]. This same tract of land was sold by Henry and his wife, Peggy, to Thomas Wells in a deed dated 14 March 1832 [Clark Co., KY. Deed Book #25, p. 174-175]. Steve Loose

    3. Hi All, Well there's good news and bad news. The good news is I received about 25 request for the Browning files and got them sent out this morning......the bad news is my systems administrator was upset when my 25 replies qued 80 MB of space and tied up the system......so he purged the server. Bad Tom, bad Tom. So if you received the files count yourself lucky. If you requested the files and don't receive them by tonight, please resend a request and I'll do this a few at a time so as not to disturb the administrator. Sorry for the delay. Just to remind you: File 1 - Browning quarterly File 2 - Pedigree of Thomas & Hester and others File 3 - Comment on EFB & the Southern line File 4 - Pedigree of John Browning (not Captain John, not related to Thomas & Hester) File 5 - EFB w/o corrections Again sorry for the delay.
