    1. [BROWNING] Elias and Elizabeth BROWNING
    2. Hello listers!!! I am asking for help locating Elias and Elizabeth (Crago) Browning in the 1850 census schedules. They were married in 1847 in Tuscarawas Co., OH, and had moved by early 1854 to Crawford Co IL. I cannot locate them in the census indexes of OH nor IL and I am wondering if perhaps they have been "missed" somehow by the censustakers....perhaps they were on the way from OH to IL during the census and were enumerated somewhere in between. Elias and Elizabeth had at least one son, Samuel, and perhaps another, James, by the time the 1850 was taken. Elias was born in OH and would have been around age 31, and Elizabeth was born in PA and would have been around the age of 28. So if in your scans of any OH, IN, or IL counties in the path of Tuscarawas Co OH and Crawford Co IL you happen to run across an Elias, please contact me via the list or with my email. Thanks in advance!! Patti Strickler Arlington TX [email protected]

    1. [BROWNING] BROWNING in DURBAN
    2. Dave Collins
    3. Hello to the Browning list, which I have just joined. My interest is in contacting descendants of John Browning and his wife Isabella Bruce - see below. I am descended from Isabella's brother, William Bruce. The data on John and Isabella below is about all I have got. I have traced all other descendants of David Bruce and Christina Munro [plus most others of David's family and it would be great to find the Brownings. Isabella emigrated first to NZ from Scotland in 1862 with two of her brothers. In 1865 she married John Browning in NZ and they had one child born in NZ. Her parents and the remainder of her family, except two brothers who had emigrated to their relatives' estates in Florida [Robert and William Forbes], emigrated to NZ in 1865. Isabella, John and their daughter then left NZ, I think in 1866, and settled in or near Durban, South Africa. At least one further child was born there. Between 1885 and 1921 the Brownings, or their descendants, were beneficiaries of the disposal of the Forbes estates in Florida. The records of these payments indicate the Brownings were in Auckland NZ in 1891, but otherwise were always stated to have been in Durban. So, I would be very pleased to make contact with any descendants of these Brownings. Posted on: BROWNING Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/surnames/b/r/BROWNING/queries/84 Surname: Browning, Bramel, Willett, Cooper, Rose, Applegate ------------------------- Seeking parents and proof of parentage for John N. Browning b. abt 1808 in Fleming Co., KY. He was still living and enumerated on the June 1870 Mason Co., KY census. Plus, he had a third marriage in 1871. I have not found the family on the 1880 Mason Co., KY census yet. He married: 1) Catherine BRAMEL on March 31, 1829 - recorded in Mason Co., KY. They had nine children. 2) Frances (WILLETT) COOPER on June 23, 1863 - recorded in Mason Co., KY. They must have divorced because Frances is still living when John N. remarries again. 3) Catherine (ROSE?) APPLEGATE on June 15, 1871 - recorded in Mason Co., KY. John N. Browing states on his third marriage record that he was born in Fleming Co., KY and his parents were born in MD. He gives KY as his place of birth on all census records that I have so far. He consistently gives his age on census records so that he would have been born about 1808. Any and all help would be most appreciated. I'm just looking for BROWNING couples that may have moved from MD to KY about 1800.
