    3. While we are on the subject of Joshua Browning that married Nancy Scott. My line is ... Joshua Edmund Allen Stanfield Pinchard Browning married only Elizabeth Johnson Mary/Polly Browning that married in 1881 to Andrew Browning (another line) -- My question is about the other Stanfield Browning, Who were his parents? Must fit into Edmund Browning's family The Stanfield P. Browning that married Johnson... Bracken co. census 1850 pichard 21, living with Mary Hall age 22 1860 Manfield P 31, Elizabeth 27, ??Sarah 6, Wm. 3, Rebecca 2/12 1860 Pickard 33, Betty 35, Alford 13, Becky 11, Eliza 9 1880 Stanford 49, Elizabeth49, Rebecca 20, Mary 18. (Living next door is William age 23 with wife and child) I believe the above is the S.P. that married Elizabeth Johnson, who had the son Wm. Alfred in 1857. The other Stanfield...I find these marriage to Standford/Stanfield Stanfield P 1847 Fleming to Emma/Elvira Mills (in Mason Co. 1850) Stanfield (born 1827 Bracken) 1852 ? Nicholas to Elizabeth S. Conn S.P. (of Bracken Co. age 45, 3rd marriage) 1872 Mason to Elmira McDougle Bracken Co. census 1870 S.P. 43, Joseph 15 (born in Mason Co.), Alfred 13, Morris 4 1880 S.P. 53, E.A., J.C. 25, A.A. 23 I believe this to be S.P. that married Elizabeth S. Conn, who had a child Alred Allen in 1856. Jeremiah Browning had a Land Deed (mortgage) to a Standfield C. 1. [BROWNING] John's and James Browning's
    2. I keep two databases, one that is proven records and one that in unproven information that has been found floating around different places. Needless to say there is a lot of unproven information floating around. John Browning married ? (possibly Elizabeth Demarest no proof of this married but we know he was married prior to his second married) married 2nd Susannah possibly Teague) widow of Joseph Boren. She had children by Joseph Boren. I think the basis for the claim of Elizabeth Demarest being a spouse come from the ever famous book "Browning's in America". This marriage is again listed in the book "The Browning Families" by William Hurley, Jr, neither book lists source information for this information. More about Elizabeth Demarest, I have seen it recorded that Elizabeth was the daughter or Jan Des marest and Alice or Elise Earle, supposedly born about 1725 in New Jersey or Delaware. I have never either in my proven or unproven records seen a reference to a James Browning being the son of any of the above individuals. So I guess what I'm saying is, I don't have any offer of proof either. Teresa Browning

    2. I have never seen any real proof that John Browning who died in 1803 in Greene Co, GA was ever married to Elizabeth Demarest. Does anyone have proof? Also this John did not name a son James in his will. What is the proof that he had a son named James. In his will, John left $1.00 to his son Joshua. Rather than thinking they were not on good terms, I prefer to think that perhaps John had already given Joshua his inheritance in the form of land etc. The two were both rather prominent in Caswell Co., NC land deeds etc. They both moved to GA at the same time also. 3. One more item to add to the Joshua mix: I'm tracking my Browning line, which currently doglegs at Isaac T. Browning, Jr. once thought to be Isaac Norman Browning, Jr. s/o Isaac Norman Browning, Sr. s/o Francis... We now know this to be untrue. Isaac T. Jr and an Isaac T. Sr. appear in LA in the early 1800's. From records, we have learned that Sr. is the uncle of Jr., not the father, and that Sr. is definitely not Isaac Norman. Sr. and Jr. are related somehow to a Benjamin Browning and a Patrick or Peter Browning in this early-1800's timeframe. So far I haven't found their ancestors... Here's where you come in: apparently, my Isaacs were found in the presence of a Joshua and several other Brownings in Amite Co, MS, ca 1800. We are currently seeking these records to verify. If this is true, here's another late-1700's Joshua to account for... 3. Thanks, James! Like I thought the Joshua IN THE WILL is one of the 'other' Joshuas. Joshua Browning b: 29 January 1758 in Virginia d: 10 January 1807 in Clarke Co., GA . +Margaret Rankin b: 15 December 1754 in North Carolina m: Abt. 1773 in North Carolina d: 13 July 1842 in Clarke Co., GA My BROWNING research had a setback early-on in the 1980s and I have not yet had the stomach to jump back into research on this family.
