My grandfather Edward Brown was born August 12, 1868 in Pirate Hill, Louisiana supposedly. It no longer exists but was told when I went to Louisiana looking for it that it was once the strong hold of Jean Lafayette. Supposedly one side of the family either the Mannings or the Brown's lived in Alexander or had a house there plus living (and I know I will miss spell this) Opolusus, Louisiana. Grandpa always said we had a lot of french in us but as I said I can find nothing. Thanks - Lora
Jean Lafitte and Lafayette are two different persons. Lafayette was Gilbert Lafayette, a wealthy frenchman who aided George Washington. Jean Lafitte was a pirate of New Orleans.
