Seeking info on the parentage of Benjamin Hart Brown, born 5 June 1800. An old family tradition says he was from Rye, New York, but can find no proof. All records indicate he was born in New York State. ? He married Phebe Wilkinson in Oxford Twp., Philadelphia Co., P. Benjamin Hart Brown had two patents; one for a brick press and another one for a piston. He is said to have lived in Washington DC for a time while he was registering his patents. He died 27 Jan 1848 in Oxford Twp., Philadelphia Co., PA. His obit in the Philadelphia paper had a notation: "New York Papers copy". New York Times not yet in business.
