Does anyone have a connection to John Edward? Brown who was born abt. 1760 in Virginia, died 1804 in VA and married Mary Elizabeth Nelson? Their son, Jabez Nelson Brown b. abt. 1797 in VA. He married Catherine King Devone b. 17 April 1800 North Carolina. Both died in Butler Co., AL. They had 11 children born between 1822 and 1847. They were: John Edward Brown, George Washington Lafayette Brown, Richard Wadkins Brown, William Coolidge Brown, Henry Jackson Brown, Catherine King Brown, Caroline R. V. Brown (my second great grandmother), Mary Brown, Ira Devone Brown, Mariam Narcissa Brown and, James Madison Monroe Brown. In some old handwritten notes from an early genealogist, there is mention of J. N. Brown and his wife came to AL via Florida. There was also some mention of his having been in the "Indian Wars" though I have not been able to find any trace of J. N. in old military records. Carol
