I'd speculate that your GGF came over to the States from across the "pond", and for whatever reason changed his last name when he got to Ellis Island. I suspect that my GGGF did the same thing. Thanks for the reply Ray; I think the Rock family must be further back then a ggg grandfather; I thought getting the DNA would help to get to a line; place; an idea where to continue searches; well good luck Ray.
