The gentleman in the attached picture is my gg grandfather Elijah W. Brown. He was born in either Jackson or Overton County Tennessee in the early 1830's. I have had clues that his father may have been Nathaniel Brown, but I can't prove it. I have all kinds of information about him from the Civil War on. He served in the Confederate Army, Shaw's Battalion (cavalry) and may have been a pow at Camp Douglas near Chicago. After the war, he moved his family to Van Buren County Arkansas. He homesteaded in Union Township. His older daughters married men who seemed to have connections to Overton County--Gibbons, Caldwell. One of my great aunts spoke of the family coming across the water. She might have meant Ireland or possibly Wales. My gg grandmother Elvira Welch(?) allegedly came to America illegally from Wales in the 1840's. Hoping the break down this brick wall. Alice Brown
