It would appear to have been created sometime in the 1840s, and added to in the 1850s, based on the hand-writing(s). (as it appears in the document) Mr. Alexander Brown, Born Feb. 4th 1793. Brown Dec. 10 1843 The above document is yellowed with age, has hand-drawn flowers and leaves, is bordered by hand and has quotes from several Bible passages. I have digitized it and will gladly send high-rez copies to any descendants of this couple. Also ... If I can locate a direct-linear descendant of Alexander BROWN, who still carries the BROWN surname, I will pass the original along to them. I have had the document mounted and framed utilizing acid-free materials and UV protected glass to slow the aging process. Alexander BROWN (senior) in the document is my 2gGrandfather. I have an Alexander Brown b. 1837-8 GA. The only place I have found him to date is on the 1870 Alachua Co. FL census. His wife was Augusta b. 1840 GA. Children: Jackson C., Albert, Susan, Minny, Harriet. Alex was my gg-grandfather and Jackson was my great grandfather. Would your family tree fit mine? Jim I wish that my Richard Gibson Brown were listed! He remains so elusive! What a treasure you have. Did this line originate in Hampshire Co., VA? I just received a notice from another board of a will for an Alexander Brown. I'd be glad to share if it is the same one and you need it.
