The Kansas City Public Library has quite a bit about Darius - including - Photo and bio of Darius Brown (1869-1938), mayor of Kansas City in 1910-1911 as well as city attorney and circuit judge. Born in Kansas and coming to Kansas City in 1891, residing at 3641 Wyandotte Street... There certainly is no shortage of info on him is there --- There is a reference to her in The Santa Fe Magazine By Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railway Company 1880 Carbondale, Osage KS John Prescott 39 PA ENG ENG A MINER Ella J. Prescott 34 PA PA PA Cooper Prescott 14 PA Martha Prescott 12 KS Laura Pescott 10 Lina Prescott 8 Edna Prescott 6 Nellie Prescott 4 North H. Prescott 1 It would look like John and Ella met in PA - since Cooper is born in PA - and Martha is born in KS then they must have moved from PA to KS between 1866 and 1868. I suggest you work Ancestry and try to find the father in 1850 - 60 - 70 - etc. try to track each child. Continue to look for other clues - military records - directories - obits - an obit may mention a female relative with her married name - mention a place - When you don't find what you think it right in the census index try other spellings - try searching for just the first name leaving the last name blank - (in the correct town) sometimes the spelling with be wrong or the hand writing of the census taker too hard to read. Try Google Books - looking for "Cooper Prescott" or what ever - the odd names are some times easier to track than others. Hunt down every person - ever possibility until you find someone who knows what you want or find a magic clue which helps you. Recently I found an account book for an ancestor - Hervey Brown born 1803 Rensselaerville, Albany Co. NY died 1882 Schoharie, Schoharie Co. NY - and although most of the pages were simply - how much rye or what he milled or who's pants he hemmed - there was a page with family history AND - there were some pages where his niece left some key family history notes. One or two clues - gave me a flood of new info on him - his sons - his relatives. MY PHILOSOPHY - IF YOU CAN'T SEE STRAIGHT AHEAD OF YOU BECAUSE THERE IS A TREE IN THE WAY - YOU NEED TO FIND SOMEONE WHO IS (or was) STANDING TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT OF THAT TREE WHO CAN SEE AROUND IT WHO CAN TELL YOU WHAT IS ON THE OTHER SIDE. Don't keep walking straight into the tree - find a way to look beyond from other points of view. RMB PS - when I think of Prescott you know who I think of don't you ??? George Prescott Walker Bush - this that right ? not sure if which one - but there are Prescotts in that family and they are very well researched - on line too. I know because I'm a Jenne - and the Bushes - both George 41 and Barbara his wife are related to the Jenne family of Plymouth. Be sure to scour though Prescott family histories.
