Hi Darlene, This is what I found at a LDS site - 1. Rachel Pickering married Godfrey Augustus Speck 30 December 1819, Belmont Co., Ohio. Rachel b. 4 Oct 1770, Hopewell, Frederick, Virginia. Godfrey B. 1754 Dresden, Saxony, Germany, D. 24 Dec 1828, Westchester, Tuscarawas, Ohio. No parents of either Rachel or Godfrey are given. 2. Rachel Horseman married Augustus Speck same date.... with maybe parents of William Hosman and Rachel 3. Rachel Speck Hosman, B. 23 Oct 1829, Kenton, Harden, Ohio, D. 9 Feb 1842 - parents Isaac & Mary Young Hosman - it appears that Isaac is a brother to the Rachel above (in #2) 4. I tried any Rachel to any Brown in those counties A. Rachel Robinson md Enoch Brown, 2 Aug 1866, Washington Co., Ohio B. Rachel Spencer md. Aron Brown, 1841, Springfield, Hamilton, Ohio 5. Any Rachel Speck to anyone.... in Ohio - none 6. Any Rachel Speck to anyone in Virginia - none 6. Any Rachel Horseman to Pickering in Virginia - none 7. Any Rachel Horseman to Pickering in Ohio - none Searching Ancestry.com - Ohio Marriages: 1. Name: Speck, Augustus Spouse: Horseman, Rachel Marriage Date: 30 Dec 1819 County: Belmont State: OH 2. Any Speck marriage in Ohio - nothing with Rachel 3. Brown, James Burkhead, Rachel 6 Jan 1856 Belmont OH 4. Brown, James McMahon, Rachel 19 Mar 1835 Belmont OH It is possible that your Rachel Speck married another person before she married a Brown. It is also possible that the name "Speck" has been transcribed as something else. It is possible that she had a common law marriage/relationship with a Brown...?? Have you tried looking at newspaper abstracts? court records? Kathie On Tue, Nov 3, 2009 at 1:41 PM, D. Small Gilligan <jgillig1@nycap.rr.com>wrote: > Kathie, > You are very kind to respond.
