    3. Jesse, I don't want to quibble, but I do take exception to your statement. Ancestry did buy rootsweb to keep it available. You can still search rootsweb free! The family trees that were there are still there and freely available. They can also be accessed from Ancestry.com. I just went to Rootsweb and typed in one of my ancestors names and got 2 pages of possible matches absolutely free! It is true that if you search through ancestry.com website, you will be asked to subscribe, but if you search through rootsweb, it is still free. What gall! I and many others have NEVER and would never upload to Ancestry. 3. The point is that rootsweb was free when people placed their information on the site. When the going got tough and people did not help rootsweb with 'donations' to help defray costs, ancestry jumped in and helped them really well. The information that people put up for free is now being 'sold' on the ancestry site...and I do believe that is what the people are talking about...yep, MHO. Now to make this a real BROWN post: Franklin BROWN lived in Wilmer AL, but supposedly was born in LA. He married Mary Ann PIERCE and had children: Alice, Sarah, Rosalie, Mary Ann, Isabella, Eliza...and possibly more that did not live to adulthood. When wife #1 died, Franklin married Susan Ann FOSTER and they produced: Alexander, Hager and Michael. All stayed in the surrounding area and most are buried at Allentown Cemetery in Semmes, AL and at Palestine Cemetery in Wilmer, AL. Would love to hear from anyone concerning this family.
