    3. Hi I'll put my two bobs worth in. Years ago I uploaded my family file to Family Tree Maker. Later my file appeared on Ancestry. I had no problem with that because then we were able to access other peoples files who had uploaded to Ancestry. Now Ancestry charges for access to information they acquired for free. That is a rip off in anyone's book. It is good to see that in the U.K. there are people like FreeCen who are giving information out for free on census and BMD. That is the way it should be. After all it is OUR records. I have no argument with Ancestry charging for census and BMD and other information they have paid for BUT not for family tree information compiled (at their own expense) by the public. It is good to see that people like Facebook are getting into this area at no charge. End of rant. Meanwhile I am still looking for descendants and any information on a Andrew McGill Brown. He was born in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland about 1838. He married a Margaret Chalmers born Kilmarnock 1st January 1831. She died in Kilmarnock 1896. In between this time though the couple had lived in the United States as a son Andrew was born in Lewiston, Niagara, NY in 1860 and a daughter Mary Isabella Brown in NY in 1863. Mary stayed in Scotland (and I have tracked down her descendants) but it's believed Andrew jnr went back to the US. After the death of Margaret Chalmers in 1896 her husband Andrew McGill Brown also returned to the U.S. we believe to join his son Andrew jnr. It is pretty certain that Andrew jnr had descendants as there is a IGI reference to his birth on the Mormon website from a temple in California. It would be great if anybody could help with this brickwall. Thanks and Merry Christmas and a happy new year to all. Ken Brown Gold Coast Australia.
