I don't have any "Brown" relatives that I can have tested that I know. My Brown line is or was definately in Tennessee. At my Granfather's funeral in Hanceville, Alabama I was told that the "Browns" burried there nearby were related but noone still living knows how or anything about the "Browns" burried there. Does anybody here have a Brown line that came to Alabama from Tennessee and originally from Scotland? Plus JohnEbenezer Brown born Nov 1822 Have used it for years. I would not be where I am today without it either. An example flew to Toronto to visit my brother spent the day at the archives with him and hardly got a thing. Upgraded to a newer version of FTM put in the same data could not believe what my FTM found in Ancestry for me. So many documents that lead to other ancestors. It is well worth the yearly fee and I have just received the FTM 2010 which is great. Very cost effective. My only brick wall is my gggrandfather John Ebenezer Brown born Nov 1822 also in census showing as John C. Brown and John E Brown. The first name is the real one as I found the decendant with his John's family bible and I took pictures of the pages. It dates back to 1855 and then I made my own bible from the pages. My ggrandfather said he was from Dublin Ireland and have found no proof of that but census says NY and sometimes Vermont. I had my brother do the Brown DNA when it first came out. What you do in cases like this is work your way up your paper ancestry, to see if you can find a patrilineal male descendant of your great-grandfather, or great-great-grandfather, or GGG-grandfather, and so on. I'm in the same boat with my GG-grandfather, Willard BROWN, where I daughter out. I don't know the identity of his parents, so I'm working on tracing every line of his descendants, until I find a living BROWN male who is his patrilineal descendant. I have a standing offer out to fully pay for the testing of such a person: http://dgmweb.net/FGS/B/BrownWillard-MaryRasey.shtml The person doesn't have to be interested in his genealogy. He only has to be willing to take a cheek swab and let you have it tested. If you're in this spot, I suggest posting such an offer ASAP. It took me four years to find a willing DAVIS cousin, and five years to find a willing THOMPSON cousin, but I did find them... Diana P.S. Please trim the amount of material you backquote, especially the duplicated list footers. > -----Original Message----- > From: brown-bounces@rootsweb.com On Behalf Of dianelovejoy@comcast.net > Sent: Tuesday, December 22, 2009 4:41 PM > To: brown@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [BROWN] DNA testing > > I don't have any "Brown" relatives that I can have tested > that I know.
