In response to a few who have posted about my interest in Edward and Lucy Brown: my great-great-great grandparents were William LeGrand Brown and Rebecca Rowan who married in Houston County, Georgia in 1838. They were in Florida by 1850. William was born in SC and I feel fairly certain his father was (whoever that may be) or perhaps Virginia. Also, I feel fairly certain that an Edward G. Brown who was also in Florida was William's brother because this Edward Brown named a son LeGrand. Because of William's unusual middle name--LeGrand--the Brown family most certainly has ties to the LeGrand name. I know there were LeGrands in South Carolina during the time William was born. At any rate, I have pursued several Brown lines, including the Edward Brown mentioned above, as a possible father for William, but have been unable to find out who Edward's children were. In short, no success so far in discovering who were the parents of William LeGrand Brown. Thanks for any help, Ladonna Viertel
