Hi Thomas, My name is Dale Dodson. I am descended from John Brown who came to Belfast township with his wife in the 1760s. One of his sons was Meredith Brown. Both John Brown and his son, Meredith, fought against the British in the Rev. War. Sometime after the war the family migrated to Elbert County, Ga. Franklin is adjacent to Elbert and may have been part of it (I am not looking at my research right now, but, rather, going from memory). Meredith married John(?) Glover's daughter. Later they moved to extreme north Henry County (I'm pretty sure Meredith moved to Henry Co., I know the son did. They all lived down close to where the Atlanta-Hartsfiel Airport is today.) as did their son, John Brown. Both Meredith and his son ,John, fought against the British in the War of 1812. The second John died while in his late 30s, I think. He left his widow, a Stovall (if memory serves), with a large brood. Three of their daughters married three of Daniel Dodson's sons. One daughter, Amy, married Stephen Dodson. Amy was 14, as I recall. Both Meredith and John Brown are buried at the Elam Primative Baptist Church Cemetery down in Forest Park. I was under the impression that John Brown, the immigrant, had another son, Peter. I read somewhere that he served in the Rev. as a spy against the British. I was also under the impression that he moved south, possibly to south DeKalb. I thought he was connected to Brown's Mill down there, but I could be wrong since he wasn't a primary object of my research. I am particularly interested in anything you know about John the immigrants origins. I assumed he was from N. Ireland because of where he settled. I think his wife's name was Martha. But I don't have her surname. If any of this interests you, write back at daledodson@bellsouth.net and I'll dig out my notebooks and doublecheck all the above and flesh out the details. Dale
